after using an S10 you cant look at square nothces anymore. They become too ugly
They all have been like this. Were you not around when notches came out? The same uproar happened then.
i included "notches" in my critique. obviously you're from the school of "least possible resistance" when it comes to acceptance vs pushback.. and that's cool- it's what the phone makers depend on.
I'm in what? Lol. No I'm in the "we all knew this was a stopgap and not something they want to continue for years so we all know they want stuff under the screen but are waiting on tech to catch-up and be perfected camp."
We have known about this since notches is what I'm saying. It's not something new from your discovery or new due to the "whole" punch. It's been going on since the iPhone X.
i hear you. and like you said, since this "compromise" (presented as a "feature") was 'notched', front & center w/the iphone, it's been a stopgap w/an inevitable shelflife.. and i've scoffed at it from a distance. but since i don't f_ck with iphones, i wasn't affected. i latched onto samsung's dismissal of iphone's notch as a vow of 'screen integrity'. silly me.
so, while i have been paying attention all along, this samsung whole S10 punch hole "innovation" kinda hits home, with its convenient hypocrisy (tongue in cheek). aside from an extended fling w/the LG3, my smartphone life has been a galaxy one. if i were coming from a now outdated phone, i'd have to consider samsung alternatives. but i'm not. i'll hold onto my minimal bezeled, 6.2 screen, iris scanner, notification enabled, beautiful, notchless/holeless S9+ as my pushback to samsung's punch hole (stopgap) diversion. ??????
I am not sure where this is going. I wasn't speaking to your specific situation or anything of that nature.
I was simply saying you didn't somehow discover this being a "stop gap" as if it was new. I was simply saying yeah.. we know..
this is a forum. i'm simply (as most do, more or less) partly relating personal experience to opinion & choice. most experiences, opinions, and choices don't necessarily equate with new "discoveries". that doesn't diminish the validity of.. ..calling out fan-boy mindsets and purchasing habits -lol
we've reached wherever it is this has been going.enjoy-
I don't think people are fan boys simply because they can stand something you can't. You aren't the guideline lol.
..but do they LIKE it/is it desirable? what distinguishes a fan boy is the willingness to chase after something they merely "can stand" - as opposed to something they "like"
ok, my last 2¢
Of course. They may not have strong feelings about the hole punch one way or the other, but may like other things about the phone a lot. All phones are a collection of features and compromises. Some just like throwing the fanboy label around because they don't like people buying a phone that they are trying to boycott.. Lol. For a lot of people, I'm sure the hole punch is not much of a factor in their decision. There are a lot of things to consider when picking a modern handset. Samsung generally packs a lot of good stuff in their S line.Definitely disagree. Just because someone can stand something doesn't make them a fan boy. Just means it may not be a deal breaker whereas for some it will be.
Just returned from Verizon where I compared all three models to my Note 4, to which I've been devoted for several years.
I was very surprised to see that all of the models are a narrow picture size than my Note 4. I am not crazy about the fact that they are taller and narrower.
Trying to make up my mind between the S10e and S10. Concerned not so much about the price but getting a good screen protector for the S10. They sell the Zagg, which is plastic, not glass.
When viewed side by side the images on the S10 are more vibrant than those on the S10e, but had I not seen both side by side I would say the S10e has a pretty darned good picture!
Lures of the S10 are the telephoto lens and larger battery.
As a several-year user of the Note 10 I would definitely miss the stylus, which I use a lot for quick notes, but I HATE curved edges - although the S10 and 10+ aren't nearly as curved as previous models. I don't like the difficulty of getting a good screen protector and reflections off the curves. I wish they would offer more flat screens in their top models.
I honestly don't NEED a new model, but get caught up in the hype by watching YouTube reviews! Suspect I'm not the only Note 4 holdout here.
I would disagree. I have been able to get used to any notch / weird combo they do now. At first you insta notice since it is different but after time my brain is retrained on what to ignore.
You will agree soon once google copies Samsung design.
