Why are people buying a SCREEN PROTECTOR??!

what's funny is i just returned my wifes evo for ..... SCREEN SCRATCHES ... BB was out of ZAGGS !

Gorilla glass my ass !! her new evo has a Screen cover and will keep a screen cover on it like mine

did anyone with an evo already say they use protectors just cause they want to. that's why i do, i just want to. protectors are cool. i had pork'n beans on my hands and then on my screen for a few days, somehow they went away, did i eat them? yum. i'm so glad i got the beans and sauce on that plastic and not on my screen

Its made out of friggin Gorilla glass... all these stupid screen protectors ARE A SCAM. You will sooner rip the screen protector off than scratch your evos screen. Furthermore, there is no such protector that helps with oil. The oil residue (which we ALL naturally produce on our bodies) will come into contact with whatever you are touching. It will not magically vanish into thin air because of a plastic screen protector.

Cmon guys... do your homework. Stop aimlessly spending money on crap.

is this just for evo or does it include htc incredible? i saw an htc incredible with a screen that has a deep gash. not just a scratch but looked like a gouge. guess the glass isn't that well protected. screen protector would have probably helped prevent that.

still happy with my clarivue + rocketfish combo.
until htc comes out with an official statement on the scratch resistant material used, im using a protector.

I've got a slight scratch on mine and I'm very careful.I have to replace mine due to screen separation, and when I do I will probably get a screen protector.

I want to get a screen protector for mine but cant decide which one to get. Does anyone have any recomendations for a decent priced good quality one, and where I can get it?

Check in the stickied thread. I recommend Boxwave, but any quality dry screen protector will work, like Clarivue, Siedo, or Steinheil. Stay away from shields that require liquid, no matter what anyone else recommends.

Get some sand, rub it on there, and take pics. Kthx.

I just took my screen protector off. I have no idea what kind it was, BB put it on for me when I pre-ordered my phone, but it SUCKED. I hated it. I'm in the process of getting a new one (wrapsol | complete scratch-proof protection systems for iphone, ipod, macbook, blackberry, nokia, lg, samsung, sony, htc, nintendo and more. -- getting the ultra scratch+drop protection, dry application), but couldn't handle the other one anymore. Needless to say, while the screen protector is off, I'm being extra super careful with my phone.

Maybe this is off topic, but I LOVE using the phone without the screen protector on. This is the first touchscreen phone I've owned and so I don't know much about how the screen protectors feel, but using the phone without one is so slick and smooth. I hope now that I ordered a better one, it won't be as unpleasant to use.

But yeah, I don't care if it was made of 100% unbreakable glass, I wouldn't trust myself. I could find a way to break most anything.

Since there are a select few members here who choose not to listen there are immediate consequences. I dont want the thread closed because there is a lot of useful info for people who are curious about screen protectors and their purpose. From this point on anybody who decides to insult anybody else is going to receive an infraction and their post deleted.

I bought my because of the fingerprints and dirt, it is easier to wipe from screen protector

I got the Seidio screen guard. I love it and it doesn't affect the touchscreen at all. The other people that I work with (I work for a retailer for a different carrier) couldn't tell that I had a screen protector on my EVO at all.

I've been without my Zagg for a little over a week now. I love how the screen feels, but I have to clean it constantly. As soon as my replacement Zagg comes it, it will go right back on.

Glass = Glass... Doesn't matter whether or not it's "Gorilla" glass... Screen protectors work wonders... Zagg invisible shield till the day my EVO is trash compared to mainstream "superphones"

yep yep! It gets dirty SO easily. I got my Wrapsol today and put it on. Amazingly, the screen feels ALMOST like it did without a protector at all, so I'm pretty pleased.

Well, you may have your foot-in-mouth and not the person starting this post. The Evo does have Gorilla glass. Ask Sprint or HTC. I put a screen protector on mine because while it is really tough glass, it is still glass. I will be able to scratch it. I have a talent for scratching smartphone screens. I have also seen videos online showing that while Gorilla Glass outlasted other types, it did get scratched. It took a heck of a lot more, but it did.

Here is a video of a guy trying to break an EVO screen.

The vid has "been removed by the user" for some reason....

Put the boxwave on it last night and love it.
Fingerprints and dust don't seem to be so noticeable as before and I have a better piece of mind that I have at least a little protection on there.
