Android Central Question

I've used Android phones for almost 10 years, and when composing messages by typing or using voice to text I've always been given options to change the text.

For example if I say "let's go to the market tonight" and the text that shows up is "let's go to eat mackerel tonight," if I tap on "mackerel" a pop-up used to appear with a list of alternatives, one of which was nearly always the correct text.

Now, after I compose a message, either typing or talking, whatever shows up is what I get. I have to select, delete, retype, etc.

This only started happening recently. I think there was an Android system update around the time it started.

In my preferences for both Samsung Keyboard and GBoard, I have all autocorrect options turned on. This happens with both keyboards, whereas both keyboards formerly had the correction suggestions.
