Why can't we get top specs in a normal Size???

I think the One S has the dual core Snapdragon. But only 1gb of ram.

Which would be completely tarded when you look at iPhone 4S and 5 sales - 3.5" and 4" screen devices.

Android has nothing that beats the iPhone on its own turf. The closest it gets is the HTC One S, which is spec'd and (IMO) built way better than this POS Samsung SGS3 "Mini". The Mini has the specs of what are now entry level phones.

You can't compare the iPhone in this issue, because Apple doesn't offer a bigger size, and if anyone wants to stay in iOS, they only have the two small sizes to choose from. (One of which has only been available within the last month at that)

I agree that's why I posted before that we would only see how the smaller iphone would fare if they released a screen larger than 4.5in. I believe the isheep would flock (funny how that worked out) to the larger device and the 4inch size would go the way of the dinosaur. There would still be a small number of people who would want the smaller size but it would be a minority.

I'm curious... Why is it that when android manufacturers don't give us what we want in a 4 to 4.3in device, the excuse is that they do careful and intelligent market research.... But when it comes to Apple, they just do what they want and fanboys will follow???

As Joe Biden said during his recent debate with Paul Ryan... "what a bunch of malarky!"

If you don't think there are people whom buy Apple just because it's Apple then you really need to reassess the situation.

People buy the iPhone because it's a reliable product and it's marketed well. Most consumers are not as educated as us, so they just follow the crowd. I belive that Google and Apple know exactly what consumers want but Apple is not able to increase their phone size at this point because their apps don't support the larger size. They have no choice. Android has the choice and is marketing that bigger is better. For "most" people this is true.

Very good point if they go bigger they need to give every app dev time to rebuild for a different res, dpi or whatever the case may be where android from the start used ldpi mdpi hdpi and lately xhdpi and app developers catered to that

Because Apple's business model has always been that way. They make the product they want to, and it sells well with their following. Probably why their computer side never surpassed PC, but is very popular in certain fields. Also factor, at this point, people with iPhones are heavily invested in the iOS ecosystem, both because of liking their easy to use and reliable OS, and because of heavy spending in iTunes. Those two huge factors can easily keep someone who might want to try Android (or WP8 or BB.. etc) on iOS.

Apple's focus is on putting out the highest quality, most stable product they can. They take their sweet time changing things, even when it is clear there is market demand. 4G for example, or the delay on the white iP4 (they waited months until the color/paint was perfect.) When they have issues, they fix them, usually well enough that the only ones who keep talking about them are ones who aren't fans of Apple at all.

I may not care for their products myself, but I certainly can't say their model doesn't work. There is no Android manufacturer with that kind of following. Samsung is the closest, and they are nowhere close to being able to move that many units of product that isn't bleeding edge stuff.

Ppl never factor in the fact that bigger phones are cheaper to make because you don't have to minimize hardware, you can package easier, you can claim "super thin" even thought its as wide as a 2x4.

This combined with the "mine is bigger than yours" marketing strategy is why manufacturers have pushed android phones to comical sizes. Profit margins drive all and when you are pushing out 10 mediocre devises a year, profit margins are everything.

Why give consumers what they want when you can tell them they want what's better for you? Android is taking a page out of apples book for this, and it's not good for consumers.

I understand what you're saying and I agree that they should try a smaller screen with top specs but I still think that most people will choose the bigger screen. And I know there is a limit to this size and my gut tells me it is what we are seeing now with the S3 and the current Nexus. Some earlier posts were talking about how cell phones started off being a brick ...then they went small ...and now big again. But this course makes sense because the real small folding phones etc were only used to make calls. You had no need for a bigger screen to watch video, pictures etc. Now that our lives are more and more integrated with technology and social media, more people are using their phones instead of cameras and using their phones to take video etc. Thats why I think there is no excuse anymore to put a crappy camera in a phone....like the current GN has. I think this trend we are seeing toward bigger screens it driving closer and closer to a "sweet spot." And my guess is that sweet spot is the maximum size you can fit comfortably in an average size pocket.

Noyankees44,

I think u hit the nail on the head. I think manufacturers are marketing the bigger is better philosophy because it keeps cost down. And they try to market like they're giving you more, when in reality, they are giving you less. Smart move...

If the complaint is that top notch devices are only in bigger sizes, which upsets some people who want high end specs and smaller screens, how is it now that bigger devices give you less? It can't be both ways.

Clearly if these companies felt there was money in it they would do it yall are a niche nothing more

Because in the current android marketplace, size matters(its a big reason for people to choose android over other OS's)... that's why

So I will quote myself in response to that :

"Which would be completely tarded given the sales figures of the iPhone 4S and 5; 3.5 and 4 inch phones."

Again apple sells because its apple dont compare that market to android. Among android phones they dont see money in it. Get it through your skulls if these companies truly believed there were enough of you they would sell it. But apple offers one phone their way take it or leave it their users have no choice. Lets use our brains untill you have apple drop 2different sized phones AT the same time with the same specs you wont know which will sell better :banghead:. On this side of the os world people do market research they look at trends peoples wants and needs because they arent just dealing with apple but every other oem who uses android they want their slice of the pie and they are all fighting to get it. This isnt rocket science its called economics supply and demand as demand rises supply does too by said logic demand must be low .

It's similar to watching tv on a 28 inch tv then going to a 60 inch. Lol.

Sorry I disagree 100%. A bigger screen has many benefits. It is not a negative in any way for most people. There is definitely a limit but being able to see things bigger and to have a larger touch area is all good for most people. Some want smaller which is fine. But android manufacturers aren't only making big devices. They are making small ones too so this logic makes no sense. The new parts are getting smaller not bigger so fitting them in to a bigger or smaller device is not the issue.
