why do i keep getting a notification on my screen saying unfortunatley hangouts has stopped working

I keep getting a message popping up on my Samsung active that says unfortunately hangouts has stopped working

I can't find disabled apps.

When you go into your APp Manager, at first you won't see the "disabled" option. You'll only see as far as "All"...so scroll over to where "All" is highlighted and you are looking at all the apps, then you can swipe over to the right one more from there and should get the "Disabled" apps....unless for some reason, you don't have any disabled apps then Hangouts would be in the "All" section but then you shouldn't get that error, so not sure about that, but hope that helps...Also, here's some screen shots from my phone for a reference. .....

There's no listing in my apps (and there's no icon for hangouts) for hangouts or google hangouts. But the damn thing keeps stopping and then the phone makes a noise that wakes me up!

To clarify the steps...
Settings/Apps
Disable Hangouts if it appears in ALL
Switched to Disabled Tab (see above)
Find Hangouts
Open the Hangouts entry
Click "Force Stop" if the button is available
Uncheck Notifications!!! ...this is what triggers the "has stopped" message.

could someone help me access my Hangouts as I have been trying sice last week to sort it out it keeps comming up that its stopped I cant have contact with friends on there
