Why do people buy Samsung Galaxy Phones?

I think the marketing plays a part in it. I think the general public will go with what is pushed on them and that will most likely be an Apple device or a Samsung device because that is mostly what you'll see advertised and used in the wild! I've long felt like "If I leave iOS then I'll go Samsung since it's their biggest or only real competitor" but low and behold I've come across the amazing Moto X and now this AWESOME LG G2 that I'm using! It's quite the total tech package in my estimation!

Indeed it is! I'll admit that when I switched I would have gone Moto X again if the camera was at least comparable to the iPhone camera. but, the G2 camera bests then both! I'm not a big picture taker but when I do snap one I want it to be good!

Yeah... The 5C is definitely a higher quality than the jank you get with the galaxy S series. It's almost on par with the Lumia series polycarbonate

I'm not sure what it is, but it does feel higher quality on the 5c and the Lumias than it does on the Galaxy's.

They are all plastic and the "feel of higher quality" is so very subjective.

Here's one idea... One's paper thin and flexible to the extent that you can pretty much fold the housing back in on itself and shows hairline cracks over an extended period of time. The other is a higher quality version of the plastic used to make skateboard wheels. Something that several hundred pounds wears down on a regular basis without any real damage.

So the point is that the Note 2's backing could have been thicker? There are nearly telepathically acquired economical aftermarket replacements if YOU feel the original is not as brawny as you'd prefer. ...such that discussing the Note 2's back almost seems petty.

Okay, they also make the laggiest UI replacement in Touchwiz, so poorly done that the Moto E ran circles around it in terms of the user interface and responsiveness... How the Nokia Lumia 505 is smoother than the GS5 and Note 3 is beyond me. It had 256 megs of ram and a .8 GHz processor. It's not the fact that it's replaceable. It's the fact that you're settling. There are several other Phones out with a higher build quality, comparable specs and software that better utilizes the specs.

How the Nokia Lumia 505 is smoother than the GS5 and Note 3 is beyond me. It had 256 megs of ram and a .8 GHz processor. It's not the fact that it's replaceable. It's the fact that you're settling. There are several other Phones out with a higher build quality, comparable specs and software that better utilizes the specs.

I cannot nor do I desire to discount anyone's assertion that the Samsung flagships lag. I will simply say that the lag so very light to non-existent in my experience to date. I'm happy about this.

I'm sorry, I have a three year old. Those photo moments often don't last long. Having to wait 3+ seconds for the camera to load up after unlocking the phone and getting to the camera in the first place then a few seconds for their algorithms to take... Yeah, that moment was gone ten seconds ago. Unlike a lot of the points here, that is something that many people do care about.

Why do you keep bringing up Nokia? It's a windows phone. Nobody cares about windows phone. Take a look at those expensively made porche blackberry phones. Can't argue that those don't use premium materials right? Right, and nobody cares about that single digit market share OS either. They could make a gold lumia for $5 and the vast majority of people would still buy a galaxy. How sad is that, windows phone evangelist?

Market share means developer support and wider availability not to mention more money funneling into the company making it for further R&D. Pretty obvious.

Microsoft isn't exactly going for broke and we now have phones coming out on 8 new OEMs. Pretty exciting times. A lot of OEMs want an OS they don't have to put more into than Google does to make it functional and it's starting to show.
