Why do people buy Samsung Galaxy Phones?

I have had the s3, and now I have the s5.

I didn't get it because of any hype or marketing.

I get it because it's a good phone. Yes it is made of plastic, I rather have one that is made of plastic instead of metal. Mainly because of wireless charging. Metal scratches easier.

Personally I like the design of the s5.

Why do people buy htc, or lg

As an owner of a Note 3 and sV I can attest that people buy HTC and LG because they make awesome phones. The M7, G Pro, G2, Nexus 5, and M8 are killer products by most accounts.

Exactly just like the note 3 and s5 are great phones. You go for what phone best suits you and like. Not what other people tell you to get.

...if you have enough self-confidence that is. ...some people are indeed truly followers however.

I can say the same for the folk who flock to get a Nexus or M8.

Indeed. However, let's also remember that it usually doesn't hurt to take the advice of...and follow...smart people.

Well since the the Galaxy S Devices are good, I guess the consumers are smart to get decent handsets.

Marketing mostly. HTC, Sony, and LG would smoke Samsung if they had better marketing. Granted, I'm not a fan of TouchWiz, after I tried Stock Android and Sense, TouchWiz is way too cluttered.

I tend to like TW with Nova Prime. ...perfect combination of functionality and sleekness for me.

I don't think marketing is the sole reason why Samsung is successful. Like I have mentioned previously, people wouldn't keep buying Samsung devices if they were junk, the same with iPhones. Samsung does have some quality devices, and I'm willing to wager their software and various features are part of the reason why people keep flocking to them as well.

For instance, it is simplistic to change or add system fonts on a stock Samsung device. The same cannot be said of other non-rooted phones.

True. And now you mention it, anytime I see someone with a Galaxy S device they do change the font on their phone.

TouchWiz makes it so easy. ...not sure why stock android doesn't even offer the option and other OEMs don't offer nearly the flilexibility that Samsung does. ...not even LG.

Because most normal consumers do not care if a phone is plastic when they slap a case on it regardless? Or the fact that Samsung loads their devices with features that *dare I say it* people find useful even if the tech sites call them "gimmicks" or the fact that choice? I mean why is it such a big deal why people choose a certain phone? Is it your money? Or just your rant for the day? I would not buy a Samsung (had the s3&4) and just over the Samsung train, but that doesn't mean that all their phones suck like you claim.

I don't know. Coming from BlackBerry, the S3 was my first android. The simple reasons I went with it was the 2gb system ram. I did some comparing before hand however, the main reason now is, it's the only phone I have experience in successfully rooted and flashed to different roms. I believe most people go for the galaxy now a days, due to it's popularity, and lack of information on other androids.
I mean, there in the media maybe even more than the i-phone these days.
I personally remove all the bloatware because I like the phone having the least processes running in the background as possible.

It's just the general public, especially the murrican one, are really dumb, naive, blind and sheep, while the other markets just copy murricans. Plus, samsung.ha has done a good job making people want one, just like iPhones.

Wow. Harsh.
