Haha is there an app for that then? Haha not dissing z2 looks a quality phone tbh and was really seriously considered before the HTC (with added advice from u I think)

Haha indeed the apps are called "Go Find" where you just type in the persons name or username and voila I have your location, next up is "Fruit Ninja" that has enabled me to achieve excellent speed technics and coordination lol

Yeh the M8 like the Z2 have that unique design and build both in different ways, but the end product is the same in the sense of a premium feeling product :-)

And You're going to finger slice me?? I'd hope I'm a bit tougher than fruit

Samsung makes damn good phones and has very effective marketing. People wouldn't keep buying Samsung devices if they were junk, just sayin'.

Yes they would because of the effective marketing they're the Apple of android can throw anything out and people buy it simply because it's a Samsung galaxy phone

Well their devices actually are good and have the most support of any android phone. I can't hate on good devices.

Is it a giant marketing thing or are the general public that stupid ?? I've used the s2 and s3 and didn't get it back then. The design is awful they all look pretty much the same, they feel cheap and plastic for an apparent high end phone and even the UI looks tacky I'm sorry but when paying this money aesthetics matter, especially when the internals are fairly similar at this level. I just think it's laziness on behalf of the consumer who'll buy one just coz its a Samsung....

(I'm removing the note series from this as I've never used or held one to make any judgement)

I agree with you, and I have family in the industry that enables me to test drive almost every new phone that comes out for about a month before settling on my daily driver. Samsung phones have never made my cut, and in fact are about the only brand that's never made my cut with the single exception of the Note 3 which I held on to for a few months.

But what you have to realize is that the general consumer is not like us here. Much more often than not, they'll buy what's trending for any brand.

Yeah and that's what angers me about them resting on their laurels and just expecting sales from doing little work they're not bad devices n will do the job but for the money they're poor especially with the price tag mid range quality high end price

I have previously said something similar in that Samsung can throw out any product and sell in vast amounts due to people being caught by the spinning circle that is Samsung's marketing lol

That said I don't hate Samsung as I have the Note 3 and it's a great phone (Seems to be the line that gets a little thought)

But the level of thought going into their product is no where near the likes of Sony and Htc. Lg are upping their game and even though the G3 still retains a plastic build, in terms of going out there with the button placement, thin bezels and general design it's not to bad.

Samsung overloading on gimmicks is not great either.

No I rarely use face unlock let alone a heartbeat monitor or finger scanner it's an oooh look what I can do then never use it with a lot of it (now having 2 rear facing cameras for depth capture is brilliant 😁)

Basically, the galaxy S, the original, was the first quality Android device that could rival the iPhone in any regard. They sold on that and have since sold on the name and gimmicks. They are the Apple of Android.

As is noise cancelling headphones, front facing speakers and still retaining the Ip rating (Light Ui) being able to pair the dual shock controller if into gaming, great camera and app, infact the Gallery and file command are nicely designed also, The Z2 like the M8 are focused devices (I like that alot)

Well, their marketing is A1... there isn't anyone on the forum that can argue that.

Again, their marketing. They are popular! The design is simple and doesn't require much thought. The phones aren't crappy devices. Every flagship has great specs (for the model year). I bought my Note 2 because of the screen size, the stylus, and the fact that it was something totally different than my HTC Evo 4G. While, I am no longer using a Samsung device, they are good phones, and they're a consistent company that keeps their consumer base happy. We can't say that for all manufacturers.

Now, does everyone know why they are buying Samsung devices? Probably not...

I don't understand the reason for this thread. The OP decided to go with the HTC One M8 (according to other forum posts and their profile). So why care about the reasons people buy Samsung? Why the need to bad mouth an OEM and those who choose to use their devices (ex. referring to them as stupid or lazy). :(

I was actually looking forward to some of these answers.

"cheap and plastic"....I know, I hate that they use plastic. Lucky for you no one else makes their phones out of plastic. Oh, except for the manufacturers below that is. I am aware of "One" non-plastic phone, looks like you do have an option!

The differences are, Apple's marketing budget is a small fraction of that of Samsung. Samsung bought the entire NBA playoffs and Heathrow Airport was renamed after the phone for a few days.

And the gimmicks that Apple adds to its phones actually work. See the difference between Touch ID and the Swipe to unlock just as an example.
