Why do people buy Samsung Galaxy Phones?

Samsung phones tend to compare well with the competition and offer a lot of features that the general public finds useful. That may have something to do with their popularity. ...not to mention that accessories are ubiquitous.

Samsung makes damn good phones and has very effective marketing. People wouldn't keep buying Samsung devices if they were junk, just sayin'.

I hated the S3, but loved my Note 2. As for the feel of the phone, it's plastic and I don't care for it, but marketing can make people buy the Blackberry Curve and think it was the best thing out. Doesn't mean it is or ever was, but people will believe it. Ever watch the WWE on TV... LOL

I used to feel very strongly (in a negative way) about Sammy's plastic. Time has healed those wounds and now the plastic is completely fine with me (my monkey brain is strange). I have no problem, now, with the plastic, or manner in which Samsung has implemented it. I tend to think that both my S5 and Note 3 look and feel high-quality and premium. It was not Sammy's marketing that changed my feelings...perhaps just different levels of Serotonin?

I think you are over exaggerating. People aren't as dumb as you say, if Samsung devices were trash they wouldn't get keep buying them. But Samsung does make good devices so there is no complaint. OP just wanted a Samsung circlejerk thread.

Really? I went through 5 S3's and not one was worth a dang. But I didn't say people are dumb, but if you ever watched WWE you would notice how people tend to believe what they want. My wife screams at the TV when she watches it. :p But with the right advertising, you can sell ice cubes to those who live in the north pole!!! I think the S5 has it's advantages, and so does the HTC One. I love my Lumia 1520, but needed the apps that are on the Androids. So no phone is perfect. But I don't bash Samsung because they sold US Cellular crappy S3's... (There was lots and lots of complaints from those) I just don't really care for the plastic feel myself. But that doesn't mean the phone isn't one of the best out there.

I was just bored to be honest and although I stand by my points I fancied a discussion /arguement which this has turned into 😊

Right just to respond my point wasn't about HTC in general it was about the sheep like mentality of ooooh it's a Samsung I must buy it rather than looking at the 4-5 better devices that exist (Sony z2 HTC one m8 LG g2 and g3 or even nexus 5 over in UK anyway don't really know if there are others available in US? Moto X maybe?) And in regards to the person who posted every manufacturer ever it wasn't the use of plastic it was the use of flimsy cheap feeling plastic that I was on about

But that's your opinion that the other phones are better. I'm not saying Samsung is a god... But maybe those people did look and consider other phones... Then decided they liked Samsung the most.

You're assuming everyone buys it just because it has the Samsung name... You have no idea why I bought my Galaxy... And yes I've had other phones that weren't Samsung. I didn't hate them at all... I just happen to like my Note.. It gets the job done for my needs.

As it always was marketing will only get you so far. Apple and Samsung does the most marketing, but they also make some of the best smartphones out there. Advertising is only one part of the many reasons why Samsung is popular and successful.

I'm actually with you OP. I have never used an OEM or a phone as bad as the Galaxy S4 and I've used several cheap Chinese and Korean devices that charged a quarter on the dollar of what Samsung does. Not one of them felt so cheap or fell apart so much.

You are joking, right? :)

No, that's a fact. Look at every Android phone prior to that. They all looked like toys. The Galaxy S ripped off the iPhone in several ways and thus was comparable.

It had comparable looks, but it certainly couldn't rival the iPhone in any functional or performance matter.

Oh, it's this conversation again. Upon the release of the Galaxy S, the iPhone 4 was the one on the market. The only thing it won in was screen resolution and that's purely because of the outright miniscule size. The galaxy S had features that Apple quickly followed and the Galaxy S definitely did have it's faults but it really blew the iPhone of it's time away. It was the first Android device with a GPU accelerated UI, it had proper voice search, it had a swype keyboard, iPhone had barely gotten wallpapers at this point, 3G was still questionable and ironically enough, the 4G didn't get 4G. The Samsung Galaxy variants have. At this point in time, with the introduction of iOS8, I believe that Apple is winning but back then, the Galaxy S blew the iPhone away.

im going to go with marketing muscle as well. What other company can actually make people think they need all the useless crap that Samsung throws into every single one of its phones? Most of the bloat that comes included with TouchWiz is a one trick pony, and gets forgotten about after its first usage.

Also, Samsung seems to be, in my opinion, geared towards people who just want something that works. Those who dont want to tinker with it, and those that dont really care about how it looks. I had the s4 (got it free for Black Friday) for a total of 4 months and sold it away, I just couldnt stand it! Its only redeeming feature was the removable battery. The SD card was all but useless and just tossed in to shut people up about its massive space eating UI (again with alot of useless junk). I dunno, ive just always seen the Galaxy series as marketed towards older people, kids, and generally those who dont know any better lol

When I get asked by friends what phone to buy, I always tell them..If they want gimmicks and fluff that will lose its luster after a few uses..go with Samsung!

From mid January up until last Sunday I had not one but two iPhone 5s', an Air, and an rMini. I now have an S5 and this Note 3. So far I'm not feeling like the iOS devices were any better but I would be dishonest if I said I'll never miss the ease-of-use and reliability of FaceTime. That said, I'd be lying if I said these two stellar devices I have now we're anything less than awesome and that come the Fall Apple would be best served to "bring it" because the android experience leaves little to be desired and with each passing day iOS and the iPhone does more and more.

Looks like there are still those that really like and dislike Samsung's take on the smartphone. It's good there are so so many choices. You seem like you might be better served by the G3 or M8.

I have noticed a lot of the Samsung defenders use the note n not galaxy series ....wonder why that is haha and I repeat my problem is with the galaxy series and their poor build quality and same design, not to mention the useless UI (in my opinion) and yes I have used these devices before so I have some basis for my opinion of which I am perfectly entitled to share on a public forum as is everyone else with theirs on here.....

I have an S5 and Note 3. ...don't really see any functional quality differences between them. I got both so I have a smaller device and a larger device. ...but I'm happy with both...now. Perhaps I'll become dissatisfied with time.

For those who are Samsung haters, give specific reasons why Samsung "sux". Don't give the obvious no brain needed answers of plastic and "touchwiz sux hurr durr". We need some informed real answers around here because so far as I have read the answers I see are so petty and just blind hate. Maybe some links to sources and pie charts/bar graphs/line graphs would be better.
