Why do people buy Samsung Galaxy Phones?

Re: why is the galaxy the best selling android phone?

1.) Advertising

2.) Good Devices

3.) Mind share

4.) A popular consumer electronics brand (Samsung group makes pretty much everything)

5.) Carrier support. Samsung is one of the first Android manufacturers to get one phone on all carriers with the Galaxy S (the variants just had different names), the S2 didn't make it too Verizon but the S3 started the trend of releasing one device on all carriers and from then on carriers pushed the hell out of Samsung phones.

Aren't other android phones better? And significantly better? Well, two benefits galaxy does have are the awesome replaceable battery and expandable storage. For those two things alone in would buy a phone over phones that don't.
You would think so...but then, touchwiz comes along.

It's like dropping a perfectly cooked steak on the floor. I'm suddenly not hungry anymore.

Yeah some guy on here told me they were so secure lmao. Haha

Every time another OS has a minor security flaw, Android users say, "I thought ____ was more secure than Android." Yeah, let's ignore the daily malware released into the app store and the plethora of people effected and focus on this one isolated incident in which another OS had an issue.

To dispel the common myth that iOS is somehow immune to malware or exploits.

It's easy to ignore because the amount of it is so small. This is something that is greatly exaggerated by users of other OS's. I've never gotten malware on Android even once. Neither have any of the dozens of Android users I know. So it is obviously not that common IMO.

Re: Heatbleed Attack wipes iPhones

Keep in mind, most of the malware is people sideloading apps off the net, or installing less than reputable app stores. To a degree, it is like downloading a pirated movie and then complaining that there is a virus attached to the file.

There's tens of thousands of malware apps on the play store each year.

As of June 2014, there are 1.2 million apps. 10,000 apps would be less than 1 in 100.

That being said, your only source for that figure is a company (one company) who designs anti-malware apps. So I have to question their motives and methods, as there is a clear conflict of interest.

Is 1/100 or more really tough to believe? Who actually ventures outside of the ones we have reviews of, ones that have stars. There's 1.2million apps but I don't think very many of them are apps that people would deem useful.

Considering that I've been using it since 2009 and have never come across malware even once? Yeah, it's a little hard to believe. Sorry.

Lots. Sometimes people give apps bad ratings because they are jerks...for example they think the app should be free. Seen it lots of times.

The highest rated apps are not necessarily the best one. That is true of any app store, not just Google's.

You seem to not like their phones. That's cool and that's your right to do so.. Hence why it's your opinion... :).

I happen to disagree. I love my Note 3 and am looking forward to the Note 4... I hope it'll be worth the upgrade. I'm considering other phones as well but not due to hating my Note... Mainly due to me liking lots of tech :).

Sent from my T-Mobile Note 3 using AC Forums.
I love my Note 3 also and cant wait for the Note 4 to arrive. From the rumors that are floating around the internet it seems like a worthy upgrade. But these are just rumors so hopefully most of them are true

I love my Note 2, and to be honest, I dont care if the phone is made of plastic. My first two smartphones were a HTC Thunderbolt and this. My TBolt has come out of its case 3 times in as many years, and if I take my Note out of its case, I'm sitting at a table to clean the screen protector/get any dust out of it. Getting a case on a phone=logic.

Exactly I also don't leave the store until my case and screen protector are on. So I could care less about the phone being made from metal its all about performance of the device to me and the Note 3 IMO is still the best phone available. Its almost 8 months old and still holds it own against the newest round of devices being released.
