Why do people buy Samsung Galaxy Phones?

I'm not seeing a huge difference in lag on the Note 3. Nothing is triple the time on anything.

This is the problem with anecdotal evidence...you can never tell if it is real or just bias. Thats why I want to see it for myself. If there are "dozens" of videos online supporting your claim, you should not have any problems finding at least one. Right?

Alas, I refuse to utilize Google services so I'm at a loss there since most of the comparison videos are on Youtube.

That's the one my friend told me to use. Also, I know on the Note 3 I used, just backing out of the music app was bordering on painful and I'd end up backing out too far because I'd press it again thinking that perhaps the phone hadn't registered it.

You refuse to use Google Services? Lol. And where perchance did you use this Note 3 at?

I have personally seen many new IPhone's completely shatter from the slightest drop. Also have seen a ton of iPhone's with cracked screens. Most of my friends own Samsung devices and the ones that dropped it hard have never cracked the screen.

I'm just wondering what business that you are in to see so many cracked iPhones and no cracked Samesungs. The S5 has improved, but the S4 was absolutely terrible in drop tests, and the Nexus 5 didn't even get an honorable mention.

As someone who repairs phone screens on the side, I either see iPhone 4S and back or Galaxy S4 and back with a staggering number of S4 actives.

I only bought the Note 2 and Note 3 because they were the beasts of their era. Even now, the G3 is so similar to it and the Note 3 has almost been out a year! I don't have issues with touchwiz, I even choose ROMs that are based on stock.

My issue is the wiggly home button and defective USB 3.0 port they won't warranty because I tripped Knox.

Re: Heatbleed Attack wipes iPhones

That's not really impulse. A 5 star app with tons of rave reviews and I believe the developer even changed his name to something like EA Arts or something... That's a justified purchase.
Source? I have never seen an app like that on the play store.

Um...if you refuse to use Google's services, that kinda makes your opinion matter a lot less when it comes to Android criticism. You literally won't know what you're talking about. Just sayin.

That's the one my friend told me to use.
I think your friend might be trolling you. That video does not show what you are claiming at all. At best it shows the moto G is almost as fast as the note 3. The Note 3 still does not look slow or laggy.

Your friend didn't do you any favors.

Actually, having just seen it on a work computer with someone I'm having the very same conversation with, the lag on the note is pretty bad. Look how long that thing takes to return to the home screen. There's almost a full second pause between hitting the button and some degree of response.

Also, been around Android longer than most of the members here and still use it. I just remove all Google services.

This was back in 2010. Good luck searching for something like that and not getting a bunch of more recent results. All I can find is references to it without the original article. It was what hit us though and having checked the app in the store myself, it had quite a few reviews.

Either way, it doesn't change the fact that every time another OS has some minor security issue, Android users say, "I thought you were more secure than us." More secure? Yes. Infallible? Nothing in software is.

You cannot find any actual examples of it being bad on the internet, but you assure us that we should take your word for it. Because you are totally not biased.

Thats the hardware Home button. Notice in the video that the "lag" only happens when the home button is used.

This video demonstrates why soft NAV buttons are superior to hardware buttons. But does not demonstrate that the Note 3 is laggy.

Why are you running Android if you believe it is inferior to other OSes, especially Windows Phone? Why are you not using WP full time if it is so great?

Your posts appear to be contradictory.

So you have no actual source for this claim. Once again, we need to take your word for it. How terribly convenient.

If it happens as often as you claim, why can you not find other examples of it? Was this really the only one?

Which is what we have been saying all along. There is nothing magic about the iPhone...it does not make you immune to malware like so many iUsers think it does. Thats why the "omg Android is a cesspool of maleware" arguments ring so hollow. Anyone who actually uses Android knows this is false. The only people who don't know it are the people who don't use Android. Someone in the Apple echo chamber makes a claim, and everyone else repeats it as if it's objective fact. They never even bother to question it.

I use Android because once I finish my game I aim to port it to Android.

Galaxy Note 3 & 10.1 Lag, Gallery, Performance Issues - YouTube

That video seems to show several instances though no one notes the music app which was where my biggest issues were. I'd try to go back, wait about 5 seconds, no response, press it again, about 8 seconds later both pushes would register and it'd completely back out of the application. This was stock and after using the GPU acceleration trick commonly suggested. The gallery shows some pretty heavy lag there though he mostly writes it off as he was expecting a two minute start up. and Flipboard isn't applicable. either way, he pulls his finger from the home button quite some time before it even begins responding and these are clearly fairly fresh devices where Android is known to degrade over time.

Sadly, all I can find when searching now are references to a bigger malware attack that happened the following year. I suppose that's the problem with search engine algorithms. They use date.

Saying, "I thought you were more secure than us." facetiously and saying, "You can be effected by malware too" are two very different things.

I mean, you don't want to take anti-virus companies as a source and guess what, they're going to be the ones doing this research.

The video you posted shows lag using an app that loadfs content like a web page....it will lag the same way any web page lags when loading content. When using the normal launcher and normal apps in that video, as you would with a Nexus, there is no lag. (I notice you got over your aversion to using google services real quick lol)

I have used Samsung products in-store and have not seen this kind of lag, even once. My sister owns a Note 3 and my BF has a Galaxy S3 I use all the time...same thing. Those phones are stock.

Let me know what it is you think will cause lag, and I will try to get my BF's galaxy S3 to lag on video for you.

S3 is a good phone, while the S4 is a laggy phone.

Um...that link is from 2011. There is nothing more recent you are able to find?

This is yet another example of clinging to outdated stereotypes. This is obviously not recent, but you know full well you will not find recetn examples of it...so you dig up this 3 year old article in an attempt to "prove" Android is prone to malware. Apple people will do the exact same thing.

All you have proven is that Android/Google Play "might" have been malware-prone years ago. The example I posted in the OP happened THIS YEAR. It is recent. It's not an example I pulled from a website 3 years ago.

Re: Heatbleed Attack wipes iPhones

Ummm this doesn't happen everyday...

Why do you constantly find new articles do bash Apple?

Not only that he has a reading comprehension problem.
iOS is secure and was never compromised.
Mobile iron, the Mdm, was compromised and replaced with bes 10, again an Mdm solution. The iPhones were not replaced.

Op: better luck exit time;)

No, these are links I'm getting from the guy in the next cubicle over. We had that argument all day. The biggest lag points I had were immediately after startup, backing out of the music app, the gallery app, scrolling through long walls of text and on the home screen with more than a couple widgets in place.
