Why is my 1 month old samsung j3 prime slow

This phone has a 1.5GB and is brand new I have cleared my cached storage put apps to sleep and forced stopped my apps I have no malware. I was also suspicious that it is my ram and was wondering if you can expand ram with an sd card

Welcome to Android Central! Can you give more details about the slowness? Is it slow to boot? Are apps slow to open?

1.5 GB of RAM is pretty low these days, but that will primarily affect the ability to multitask (i.e., switch quickly between apps). You can't expand system RAM -- you just have to look into buying a phone with more RAM next time. Nowadays, 2 GB is considered the bare minimum.
