Why isn't wifi receiving Skype messages, Snapchats, emails, etc?

Wifi not receiving Skype messages, Snapchats, emails, etc

I'm connected to the Wifi but I am not receiveing emails, snapchats, skype messages while I'm on the house Wifi. The second I turn off wifi or connect to 4G, I get ALL the messages/etc from the the last several hours.

A few things I'd focus on:

1. Reboot the router.
2. Check the router settings to see if QoS (Quality of Service) is turned on--if so, turn it off. You could also see if temporarily disabling the router security helps (as a diagnostic step, not as a solution).
3. Make sure you're logged into your own network. If you're using the generic SSID that the router came with (e.g., "linksys"), and someone else near you also does the same thing, then you might not be logged into your own network.
