Why No Coverage

So, who then? Who can I get an update from without voiding my warranty?

Sounds like you answered your own question earlier when you said it's not on the list and your carrier should be giving you an update. If you have not been pushed one OTA, then, you have to wait until they give it to you (or worst case, they don't), or, do it yourself (which doesn't seem like an option since you don't want to void your warranty).

I would love to see ICS on my X2 (I'm tired of using ICS on my Prime and GB on my X2), and, I'm in the same boat as you, I don't want to void my warranty. If they push it (which I doubt they will), I'll get it, if not, I wont. That's just kinda how it is. Once my manufacturer warranty is up, and, I replace once through insurance, I will cancel my TEC from Verizon, and, put ICS on there myself if I have to. Until then, there isn't really much I can do about it. And, it doesn't seem like there is much you can do either.

I will mention though that I spoke with a CSR at a Verizon store when getting my phone replaced through warranty one time, and, he asked me if I had rooted the phone. I said no. Then I asked if I reverted the phone back, would they know, and, they said, probably not (doesn't seem like they check that thoroughly, that's what I got from talking with him). He seemed like he was being honest with me and would gain nothing from trying to trick me into rooting just to void my warranty. I still wont do it, but, just thought I'd throw that out there.

Just to clear up this issue. AT&T did sell the Nexus S. I picked one up for $50 during a special they had last July in the hopes that I would see ICS earlier than most. I'm stil waiting too.

Direct from AT&T, not Best Buy?

After doing a little research, Best Buy sells the GT-i9020A which is a Galaxy Nexus S device, not unlike the Sprint version. The difference would probably be the GSM and CDMA radios in each.

According to Samsung's website, they only recognize the original 2.3.4 OS that came pre-installed on the device. The page that gives this information states that any new updates from Google would be listed there.

What I can gather from what I read is that Google is who you need to be leaning on to find out if they have released it to Samsung. If they have, then Samsung is to blame for the delay.

At&t appears to have nothing to do with this. Even though the device works on their network and is sold stating that it is their device, they do not sell it on their website, so I can only guess that it is a not an official at&t device, supported by them.
