Why set contact photo puts purple dots on images

Hi, I just bought an Asus Zenfone ZE550ML with Lollipop (ZenUI) installed.

All works fine, except of the "set photo to contact", that opens a photo editing app that seems to ruin the photo with purple dots.
The originale photo is fine, so it is not a sensor problem, and this issue takes place even with system default photos, so it is not a photo problem.

Do you know why there is such an issue? It is a software problem?
