Why won't my Gmail trash empty?

Today I tried to empty my Gmail trash. I clicked on "Empty trash now" as usual, but nothing happens. I restarted my phone. Still won't empty. My spam won't empty either. Any ideas on what to do?

Which device?
Try clear cache then force stop Gmail app, if still happening then clear data then force stop
