Why won't my Samsung S5 phone charge?

When I plugged it in to charge it, it gave me a picture of a battery inside a trashcan inside of a yellow triangle. What does this mean? Any ideas? Also, it just gets hot if I continue to try and charge.

Welcome to Android Central.

Not having a Samsung, I don't know what that means, but it may be worth examining the battery. If swollen, even slightly, it's failing, and should be left out of the phone. But even if not swollen, it may be failing.
