So, its been about a week now that my 3G has not worked at all. All of the sudden one day my 3G just stopped working. I have called VM 3 times and they have tried to do everything on their end to get it working again but it hasnt worked. I have tried 3 different ROMs thinking maybe it was a ROM issue but no matter what I do the 3G connection will not work on my OpV. The WiFi works fine, Im wondering if anyone has had this issue, and maybe has a solution. The 3G symbol shows up and the arrows show connectivity but I cannot get on the web, send MMS, go on play store etc.... Hopefully I dont have a broken V.

Oddly enough, I could get to the https site and search on it....but nothing after that.

......seems like any https site I try works just fine. Now Im really confused.

This is odd indeed... Since you're already rooted, you might try downloading and installing the SetDNS app from the Play Store via WiFi. Then configure the app to use Google DNS or OpenDNS servers for the 3G connection, and see if that makes any difference in the web browsing operations.

SetDNS didn't work, was hopeful though. Can still surf to any https site though

This indicates that it's not a DNS issue. Seems like VM's network configuration is erroneously blocking/filtering certain 3G/web traffic. Just curious, and grasping at straws now, which PRL version number is your phone currently using?

PRL version 22081

Hmm, that's not one of the standard VM PRLs that came with the OV? Did you manually changed the PRL on your OV? I'm currently using the Sprint PRL version 11121 for corporate accounts. The reason I'm inquiring about the PRL is that I'm trying to determine what might be different between your OV and mine--as I haven't had any 3G connection issue. I don't know if the PRL would make a difference--again, I'm just grasping at straws. Sorry, I'm not much help...

I changed my PRL a while back. maybe a year or so. Maybe I will have to go back and change it to something else and see if it does anything. Just remember having a hard time changing it last time.

sorry dudes, i've never changed my prl (is 61007).
VM network is fscked i think.

I'm 'glad' you hear you have the same failure mode as me, that means i can pretty much rule out a conveniently perfect unusual hardware failure... (sorry that you do have the problem, though) at one point i was thinking subtle cpu/ram issue that was corrupting bits enough to jarble certain digital streams. (but that would break encrypted stuff alot more than plaintext)

if i ever have time during business hours i'll try my luck again with getting put on hold for tech support.... LOL. In reality, I think i'll craft up a nice email for the VM angels and try and get a ticket going that way. shame it's on the customers to debug the network. could it be part of a forced obsolescence program for the optimus v?

if you end up getting it fixed first, lemme know what and i'll use that a reference.

my only other theory is that i've ended up on some list and they did a crappy job tapping me. ;-)

It's more than a coincidence that you both are experiencing the exact same odd data network behavior, so it must be some sort of VM system network issue(s). Where are you guys located as it seems to affect only certain VM users? Contacting VM via Facebook and/or Twitter is better and more responsive than calling them. Best of luck, and hope it gets resolve soon for everyone affected.

I'm having the same problem, has anyone found a solution to this yet? I've been through multiple troubleshooting sessions with VM and searched the web for anything about this but still have not found a solution.

to confirm, you have this problem on phones other than the optimus v? makes sense, but wanted to be clear.
(and you have the same http vs https symptom?)

Yes I am having the problem with phones other than the Optimums V, and it is the http vs. https problem. It is also still not fixed, I have contacted VM several times and they keep pushing the resolution of my ticket back farther and farther. I have read in several places that they are upgrading to a new system so that could be the cause of the problems. Hopefully they get their straight soon.

Im still having issues, and VM isnt doing anything about it. Im going to be coming up on my monthly renewal and I think I am going to have to switch to a different company.

Out of curiosity, can anyone log into their account a virginmobileusa.com?? Everytime I have tried in the past couple weeks it says they are upgrading their system and check back in 24 hours. Same with my Wife's login.
