WiFi cycles off and on every few seconds all by itself

Hey guys, anyone had their WiFi on a Note 4 (T-Mobile SM-N910T Android 6.0.1) just automatically cycle off and on every few seconds without you doing anything?

Rebooting seems to make it stop, and the wifi ends up off.

How do I fix this? Factory reset?

Thanks,

--EDIT 31 DEC 2016--

After receiving the December security update in late December the issue has gone away, at least for me...

Did you receive any updates recently? A few users are reporting the same thing with the latest Security patch from T-Mobile on their S7s

UPDATE: This from an user having the issue on their S7 Edge. Maybe it'll help.

Found a work around.
go into settings, Privacy and Safety, Location, Improve Accuracy, WiFi Scanning ---- Mine is set to On which is causing the glitch. By turning that OFF i now have normal operation of my WiFi and phone is no longer laggy or over heating.

Yes, not too long ago I did receive a security update from T-Mobile. I will try the Wifi Scanning toggle and see if that makes a difference.

I noticed just a few minutes ago that after I tried turning it on, and it starting cycling, that if I touched it when gray (as if off) causing it to turn on in the middle of its auto cycle, it has now stayed on. Very strange!

Same thing is happening to my Verizon Note 4 with the latest updates. It's eating my battery as well.

This is happening to my Sprint Note 4 also. I was thinking of doing a Factory Reset, But I am not sure that will help. I think this is a result of the latest update.

This is happening on my Verizon Note 4 as well. Can confirm turning off "Wifi Scanning" under location settings did help. Would be open to trying another solution if something else can be found.

Just a strange thought. Could this have been the problem with the Note 7 that caused it to catch on fire? What are your thoughts?

The Note's issue was battery hardware, not so much software, so nope, different things.

If it was just the battery, then putting in a different battery would have made a difference. They still don't know what caused the batteries to heat up and burn the phone. And the fact that not all the Note 7s had the problem, just like not all the Samsung phones are having this problem, makes me think there can be a connection. Of course it probably is something different.

So I was having this problem on a new VZW S7 Edge over the weekend, and fixed it by resetting the network settings. I am now having the same problem on my work phone, a VZW Note 4, and the reset of network settings doesn't help. I tried the suggested workaround of turning off wifi network scanning, and now the WiFi has stopped cycling on and off, but I can no longer turn WiFi on at all. Any suggestions are welcome, thank you!

My phone started doing it again. Went back into location and turned it off. I hope they fix this problem soon with an update.

Same thing occurring on a Note 4 with Bell Mobility (Canada).

I haven't yet tried the workaround suggested above, as the only way for me to get Wifi working again once it has gone into this cycle is to perform a hard reset. I'm unwilling to risk more lost time restoring from backup until there is clear evidence of a functioning workaround or fix.

EDIT/UPDATE: The workaround of disabling Wifi scanning works.

This is a pretty major issue and it happened to my AT&T Note 4 as well so Samsung obviously put something out that screwed up all our Notes. Turning off the WiFi scanning did fix it for me though so thanks a lot for that suggestion.

I have a Note 4 and also experienced this behavior. It stopped when I pressed the Wifi icon while it was grayed out (off).

This is the second time this has happened in the past week. Power cycling the phone, removing the battery, and simply doing a restart did not stop it. Neither did toggling auto-switch betweeen 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi, toggling Bluetooth, toggling power save mode.

I've recently added Amazon Echo and have the Alexa app, but other than that, no other applications are new to my phone. Sounds like an update caused this, as others have said, but my wife's identical Note 4 has not done it (yet).

I have an unlocked Note 4 bought in Italy. Same issue but only if I toggle wifi off and on in quick settings. If I do it in the main wifi settings then it's fine. Will try the interim fix suggested by other users - thanks!

Thank you for the advice...This worked on my AT&T Galaxy S7 Edge!!
Greatly appreciated.
