WiFi tether for JellyBean is here.... Confirmed.....

No, that's the Sprint program, and you will get a bill for using it.

Read through this thread and check your settings. I've the following on my Sprint GS3:
Device Profile: Samsung Galaxy S3 (some find Auto works, some use Nexus S)
Setup Method: Auto
WiFi Encryption is checked, but you might want to try it without encryption first. If you use encryption, make sure the passphrase has no spaces in it.
Some people have said they had to change the SSID to something different than the default.
I have WiFi-driver reload unchecked, and reload 2 checked, but I know some people have both checked.
Enable access control is off.

Make sure WiFi on your phone is off before you start WiFi Tether. It should turn it off automatically, but turning it off yourself makes sure it won't interfere.

ok, i have checked and rechecked the settings...tried them several different ways. I cant get the chromebook to connect but no data. On the phone it shows upload and download numbers but i cant get any webpages to come up on puter....says offline...

btw i am w/AT&T if that matters

thanks for your help!!!

That matters alot. This is a set up for Sprint GS3

well, i can still get it to connect to the chromebook, but no internet....any thoughts?

Sorry, I can't help ya with that one. Try looking the at&t forums for a similar thread. Or you can work the settings and maybe figure it out by trial and error.

Do you have another device you can try, other than the chromebook? It could be the settings there.

When I first set it up, I could connect but had no internet, and it was because I had access control turned on. When I switched that off, it started working. Are you sure that's unchecked?

does it matter what method was used to root the phone? i have root checker and it says that i do have root access...also have super user and super su

Shouldn't matter how you rooted. But I seem to recall reading that this required SuperSU rather than SuperUser. Try uninstalling SuperUser, then reboot, and try again.

Because I don't talk to dummies.

LOL. Lately it seems like everyone wants answers handed to them on a silver platter. Nobody bothers to search anymore, much less read the posts before asking questions that have been answered multiple times. Ok, start flaming me....

is there another version of the tether app that is modded for at&t specifically??

Ummm..... If you read the top of the forum page that brought you to this section, it says SPRINT Galaxy S3. Your question would be better suited for the AT&T Galaxy S3 forum.... Just saying...... Here, let me hand you the link...

I'm having trouble trying to install the app. I've got the apk file loaded onto my phone, but when I open the app on my phone, the "Install" button doesn't register. Nothing happens when I tap it, but the "Cancel" button works. Does anyone have any idea what I may or may not be doing? Thanks for any help!

Things are working great now!
