Will AT&T Nexus 6 ever receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow? Update: YES!

Re: No update still for the Nexus 6!!!!

This is not entirely true. All carriers have approved and have sent or are sending 6.0.x OTA updates EXCEPT for AT&T. There are no updates for LMY48Y or LMY48Z available at this time. It has nothing to do with device settings - any Nexus 6 with an AT&T SIM installed running one of these builds will remain on 5.11 until AT&T finally approves the update.

There aren't separate builds for anything on 6.x.x. LMY48Z is for tablets only and was replaced by LMY49F the next day. AT&T apparently made their own October security patch LMY48Y and hasn't done any legwork to create an OTA script to any of the newer versions, which should have started with updating to the MRA58K 2 weeks or so after rolling out LMY49F. AT&T doesn't need to approve anything, anyone and everyone can flash to the latest build MMB29S (Nexus 5, 6 & 9 only - the 5x and 6P are MMB29P and Nexus 7 is MMB29O), which is 6.0.1 and includes the January security update.

Re: No update still for the Nexus 6!!!!

Already flashed the latest January update on my Nexus 6 and 7 (2013).

re: Will AT&T Nexus 6 ever receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow? Update: YES!

For N6 phones on LMY48Y or LMY48Z don't bother. These are AT&T specific builds and there is no update from those builds to Marshmallow - Google can't publish and distribute updates for those builds until AT&T gives the OK. Until updates for these builds are published clearing your cache won't work. Factory Device Resets won't work. Switching carriers or SIM swapping won't work.

Ah man, and I'm on LMY48Z too, dangit.. Come on!!

re: Will AT&T Nexus 6 ever receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow? Update: YES!

Did you go from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1? I have build LMY48Z from AT&T on my Nexus 6 and can only find images for the Nexus 9 with that build number.

Yes I did. Someone from Google said that even though that build was listed as being for Nexus9 it did end up on a few Nexus6 devices probably because it was the same and Google didn't bother to update the list of builds to show that it was for either. The process to flash my phone from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1 was very easy and my phone has worked flawlessly.

My Nexus 6 is still on Build LMY48Z. So unless I am misunderstanding what you stated, this build is was not tablet only.

Cannot flash it because I use the phone for work, and our Outlook security settings won't work with a rooted phone. Getting annoyed with AT&T.

I tried doing a factory reset and yanking the SIM, but never got an updated. I waited several hours with the SIM out.

You can flash factory images without root. You unlock the bootloader, flash - and if you want/need to, can relock the bootloader prior to ever booting it up. Do you have LMY47Z or LMY48Z? LMY47Z was an all carriers except T-Mobile release of 5.1.1 that came out the day before LMY48Z was pushed to the Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 9 and Nexus 10. If AT&T pushed a tablet build to your phone, that could be a huge part of the issue?

If you're on LMY47Z you can use this OTA zip to update to LMY48I https://android.googleapis.com/pack...amu-ota-LMY48I-from-LMY47Z-superblock-fix.zip

From there you'd be able to repeat the process and go to LMY48M and then to LMY48T and then to MRA58K. Download links for all of those moves can be found here: [REF] Nexus 6 Stock OTA URLs | Nexus 6

That'd get you to Marshmallow.

There is an LMY48Z for the Nexus - apparently AT&T's December security patch. Re: uniform 6.x.x builds - understood. My comment was specific to OTAs, not flashing factory builds. Anyone is free to flash a factory build. But for OTAs, carriers absolutely have control over updates. This has been stated and covered many times. The missing OTA script is all about exercising control.

Re: No update still for the Nexus 6!!!!

This is very confusing- AT&T (and XDA) list the update LMY48Y and LMY47Z as having been pushed to AT&T phones, depending on which 47 build they were on. LMY48Z should have never been put on phones at all - but there are other sources online that corroborate that it was. In either case, the best course of action is to flash a standard (non AT&T) build that is current and keep AT&T out of the process entirely.

re: Will AT&T Nexus 6 ever receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow? Update: YES!

You have a link to the tutorial? I've been searching around and finding multiple versions of the same thing. Thus making me conflicted and skeptical.

However, I haven't fully pulled the trigger because I don't want to lose my Telltale GOT save (again).

Re: No update still for the Nexus 6!!!!

Thanks for the advice. I did eventually figure out that I could update the phone without rooting it. Currently updated to Marshmallow.

To confirm: My Nexus 6 (on ATT) was using LMY48Z prior to the update. Kinda wish I had taken a screenshot since this was apparently weird. Too late now.

Re: No update still for the Nexus 6!!!!

Finally got the update here in Dubai! Thanks for the mind torturing wait Google! That was fun! Hope you don't do it again!

re: Will AT&T Nexus 6 ever receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow? Update: YES!

Just checked for updates after seeing this and now 6.0.1 is downloading!!

re: Will AT&T Nexus 6 ever receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow? Update: YES!

Haha well nevermind I guess. My phone hung at the "powering down and installing" screen for 5-6 minutes, so I restarted my phone manually and now the update isn't showing up. Still on 5.1.1, oh well.

Edit: An hour and a half later the update came back, but again stayed at the "powering down" screen for at least 10-15 minutes. Decided to just let it sit and it finally shut down and updated, so if you run into this problem just wait it out.
