will people really shell out almost $1,000 for a Pixel XL with 128gb? ($947 after tax)

I think most people (myself included) were perhaps expecting
a super-awesome-flagship with a $500 to $600 price tag that's
200% better than any iPhone or Samsung flagship phone.
That'd have been a weird expectation of the device. We already knew most of the info about it and the days of giant leaps in tech are over (for now). I was expecting a device on par with the flagships and was mildly surprised to find something that's slightly better in some ways than any other total package.

Apparently yes since all 128gb XLs are sold out last time I checked on the US Google Store. I was kind of surprised.

Can't wait to get the phone....

I will roll the dice on an XL 128 and see if it is up to the task and price for 15 days, if so then we are good to go, if not it goes back and we find another phone.

I thought Google Store's return policy was 30 days... or did they reduce it to 15 days already?

Considering it could definitely have benefited from water resistance, stereo front facing speakers, micro SD card slot, wireless charging (maybe on the glass back) they kind of missed some good opportunities to make this phone really shine. And it really needs it considering its retailing for $650+ with phones that have more value for the same price. If they do have the best camera on a phone that'll be a standout feature but seems to me they didn't provide the best phone of the year

I bought one, will be paying it off on the payment plan with however much I can afford per month. People do this every year for the iPhone and the Pixel is Google's iPhone.

Only die hard google fans/ people who care about updates/security a lot.

Is it really that secure?

Your entire Google persona will be sitting on some random server waiting to be summoned. If they added a global incognito mode that would be a different story.

They're not sold out. The 32gb versions are sold out for the blue and silver. Plenty of higher cost black and silver to go around.

I think it's to much expensive.
Let's see the unboxing videos and the previews what the people think about the phone

I say wait until at least 14 days after they start shipping. You at least have to wait for the QQing threads to pop-up and the "okay I'm sending mine back...does yours get hot...battery life bad....the phone doesn't get very bright....I scratched my screen already...the back glass on mine cracked...so much lag"

The Pixel phones are the new definition of mobile security. Previously that was the 6P, followed by Priv followed by iPhone. Each just moved down a big notch. Are they 100% secure? Probably not. But of Apple, Google and Microsoft, Google is both the best at keeping your data private (only one that doesn't share data with anyone and doesn't give themselves permission to sell data) and the way that private information is stored, it's the most resistant to 3rd party breach.

So should you trust them with everything? Absolutely not, I'm not going to sell that to anyone. But whatever amount of information you're comfortable sharing with anyone, the Pixel is the device most likely to keep that information private and secure.

Some people can justify it, some can't. I'd love to get it but I need to see the reviews before getting something priced like an iPhone (a phone I would always call overpriced).

It might be worth it. No one here actually knows because no one here has used one for any significant amount of time.

I assume Google can get at least 1 in 10,000 iPhones users to buy the Pixel?

Pricing killed it for me. I think I'll hold on to my Nexus 5 for a while yet. Hopefully, they wake up next year.
