Maybe....
My VZW contract expires a week before the 6p is scheduled for delivery. I will keep my Droid Maxx active on VZW and activate the 6p on Google-Fi for a month or two to see how well it works in my area. Both T-Mobile and Sprint cover this area reasonably well. No doubt VZW has better coverage in most areas, but after 9 years of ever changing restrictions, phones loaded with crapware I don't want and have to pay for data to keep the crap updated anyway, slow and non-existent Android updates even to resolve known security problems I am ready to walk away.
I ordered a Nano SIM from VZW. It arrived in a couple days. I avoid the brick and mortar stores.
It's easy to get the SIM, but the possible "issue" will be the store or calling them to actually activate it.
I hope I'm wrong, but we'll see. I know last year I bought the Nexus 6 and it arrived before they had them in the stores of course and I went through 3 different local stores and NO ONE would activate it. One of the employees said VZW would never get the Nexus 6 in-store. LMAO, dumba$$.
I agree though, I loathe going into the stores to ask questions like this. Most of the time they are clueless!

Let me be frank. I know it will work, but I don't trust Verizon at all.
Do you have a link as to where to order it? I'm on Verizon with my Note 4 so I need to get a nano sim. Called customer support and they said to come to a full Verizon store (not a kiosk) and they would be able to give me one. Ideally, I'd like to get it before so I can use my 6p when it arrives instead of having to go to a Verizon store.
When buying the phone from Google and using it on VZW's network, who is responsible for pushing updates? I don't trust Verizon to push updates (based on experience).
FWIW, I'm using my Nexus 5x on Verizon right now. I popped out my nano-sim from my VZW Galaxy S6, and put into my Nexus 5x. All is working well. I just need to test the VoLTE (Advanced Calling). The 6p should work the same way...
