Will the Nexus 6P work on Verizon?

Re: Verizon

Maybe....

My VZW contract expires a week before the 6p is scheduled for delivery. I will keep my Droid Maxx active on VZW and activate the 6p on Google-Fi for a month or two to see how well it works in my area. Both T-Mobile and Sprint cover this area reasonably well. No doubt VZW has better coverage in most areas, but after 9 years of ever changing restrictions, phones loaded with crapware I don't want and have to pay for data to keep the crap updated anyway, slow and non-existent Android updates even to resolve known security problems I am ready to walk away.

You got that right with big red! My Maxx has maybe one update. Would love to follow your progress with FI.. Where are you located?

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

If I have a nano sim from a previous device from the one I'm currently using, not currently active (I had a Droid turbo, nano.. Am currently using g4, micro) can i pop in that nano I still have and activate with no issues?

Lol.. Probably made that sound more Confusing than I had to...

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

For what it's worth, Friday, I chatted/messaged with Verizon and told them I was getting the Nexus 6P and asked if they could send me a nano sim for it. (Currently have an S5)

She said I could just go into the store and grab one (it's obviously quicker and you don't have to wait ~5 days for shipping) but I asked if I could get one shipped as it's easier and I'm in no hurry. She obliged no problem and I got a tracking email hours later. Once it arrives, I just pop it into the 6P and activate it online or call them.

And FYI, I chatted with an employee right before that and asked for a nano sim and she said I had to call the 800 number and asked right away if there was anything else I needed so it's hit or miss.

Re: Verizon

I ordered a Nano SIM from VZW. It arrived in a couple days. I avoid the brick and mortar stores.

It's easy to get the SIM, but the possible "issue" will be the store or calling them to actually activate it.
I hope I'm wrong, but we'll see. I know last year I bought the Nexus 6 and it arrived before they had them in the stores of course and I went through 3 different local stores and NO ONE would activate it. One of the employees said VZW would never get the Nexus 6 in-store. LMAO, dumba$$.
I agree though, I loathe going into the stores to ask questions like this. Most of the time they are clueless!

You can activate the SIM online through your VZW account.

Yeah, you pretty much have to keep in mind that these guys are just sales reps. They can help you choose a phone that is in store and get it activated, and they can help you with your bill, but outside of that most of them know nothing of other devices, or even the specs of the devices they have in store.

Immediately after the Google announcement I asked a Verizon Sales rep if he knew if the 6p would be compatible with Verizon's network and all he had to say was "Im not sure, we could get it in within the next week or a month from now." Considering that wasnt what I asked and they wont be getting it in store at all, that pretty much tells you all you need to know about asking the reps for assistance with questions like that.

To be clear, I'm not saying the sales reps are stupid, just that most dont make it a point to have that type of knowledge on tap, and if they do they likely arent getting that information straight from Verizon.

Do you have a link as to where to order it? I'm on Verizon with my Note 4 so I need to get a nano sim. Called customer support and they said to come to a full Verizon store (not a kiosk) and they would be able to give me one. Ideally, I'd like to get it before so I can use my 6p when it arrives instead of having to go to a Verizon store.

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

VZW rep initially told me to go to a store. I contacted a different rep who said it's no problem and shipped SIM. Received it in a couple of days. Try again or contact corporate customer service. PM me for link.

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

I just ordered my Nano SIM straight through the chat on verizonwireless.com. I simply said that I just ordered a Nexus (didn't specify, just said Nexus) and I need a Nano SIM. They took care of it immediately. Only asked where I would like it shipped and which e-mail address I would like to use for e-mail updates. Not sure if I was just lucky, but completely painless.

Let me be frank. I know it will work, but I don't trust Verizon at all.

Good point. I hate Verizon but unfortunately they do have the best coverage . Also hate to admit, but I've never had a bad experience with customer service.

Yea, that's BS. I went on their website today and tried 3 different people via the Chat function and the 1st two said I had to go to a store or call their CustSrvc# to order it. FU! The third one finally said 'no problem, do you want me to send it to the address we have on file for your account or another?'. FINALLY, someone gets it. This isn't rocket science. They can order one for you via Chat, I just don't understand why most don't do it and brush people off???
Sheesh

EDIT: Just got an email from FedEx that it will be here by 8pm this Thurs...LOL...

Nexus 6p Sim card question

I currently have a galaxy note 4 on Verizon. If I buy a nexus 6p, all I have to do is put my sim from my note 4 into the 6p and I'd be good to go? I don't have to contact Verizon at all?

Re: Nexus 6p Sim card question

Sounds like you may need to get a nano sim from verizon. OR cut the micro sim down to nano. I ordered a tool from amazon to cut my Verizon galaxy S5 down from micro sim to nano sim.

As far as plug it in and go, it sounds like that should work. I'm not 100% sure though.

Re: Nexus 6p Sim card question

When buying the phone from Google and using it on VZW's network, who is responsible for pushing updates? I don't trust Verizon to push updates (based on experience).

Re: Verizon

Requested an invite to Google FI, received it in about 4 days. Signed up for Google FI with billng information, SIM is supposed to arrive about a week before the 6p so everything is on track.

Google pushes the updates. Verizon doesn't get a say on when/what updates get pushed to the phone.

FWIW, I'm using my Nexus 5x on Verizon right now. I popped out my nano-sim from my VZW Galaxy S6, and put into my Nexus 5x. All is working well. I just need to test the VoLTE (Advanced Calling). The 6p should work the same way...

Nice! Please do follow up once you've tested VoLTE
