Will VZW get it? What do you think?

Some folks say yes, some no. I will buy the phone only with VZW, I don't want neither TMO nor ATT anymore because both suck! If VZW is not getting it, I will go there and take a 2-yr contract with a Galaxy Nexus for $50. Just need a confirmation that they're not getting it.

Not much mentioned about the Sprint version. I understand why, their 4G network really isn't up to snuff yet. It will be though. Personally, I'm a big fan of the unlimited data and will look very hard at the Sprint version (if it comes out). The plan is cheaper, call quality is just as good. Just waiting for the 4G to get the spread that VZW has. I currently have the 4G LTE on my current phone in my location and it's reliable and ridiculously quick. Give me a good HTC Nexus phone on Sprint, and I'll be a happy camper. If not, I'll stick with the phone I have.

You assume that's the whole point of the program. Has there been in documentation from Google guaranteeing or explicitly promising these things that people assume the Nexus program is for? I have yet to see it, but I'd love to if it exists. The Nexus showcases a new version of software when it's released, which both the GSM and CDMA versions had. Read what I said over. The CDMA versions are failures (in my opinion) because they do not offer the same experience as the GSM versions. That is undeniable fact. The CDMA versions don't even have the same name, that is also a undeniable fact. So I guess if the CDMA Galaxy Nexus is a real Nexus, then the GSM version must be the uber-real Nexus. lol

People wanted Verizon Wireless to get a Nexus device because we wanted fast updates on a Android phone that offers the 'Pure Google Experience'. What we got was a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Which doesn't get fast updates, (undeniable fact) and has carrier branding and software (more undeniable facts). If you are happy then cool, but I still haven't got what I was hoping for. The Nexus fans can change the definition of Nexus as they see fit, but fact remains the CDMA Galaxy Nexus doesn't offer the advantages the majority of us were hoping for, yet the GSM version does offer all of the advantages that most people wanted and expected from a Nexus.

I could careless what the definition of Nexus is, could or should be. All I know is that I'm smart enough to realize that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Google Galaxy Nexus are not the same thing. They simply don't offer the same experience.

I just cannot see Google giving up the biggest, best network in America. The Nexus brand is dead to a lot of people if its not on Verizon. I love my gnex. I keep saying it but.....My Verizon gnex can do anything a gsm gnex can do.....just at much faster 4g speeds with 32 GB of storage on a superior network.....because it is a Nexus their has been tons of community support to take care of the few issues Verizon has screwed up........Google would be stupid not to release this on Verizon.

Lmao its called Samsung Galaxy Nexus regardless. yeah the Verizon one has carrier problems, but it still gets its updates eventually. How many other phones released a year ago on Verizon actually got a jelly bean update? Hell the bionic just now got ics!

Not to mention google has full aosp support for it, so you can easily get your updates from Google if you want them sooner

I understood the point you were trying to make. But again the "experience" of the Nexus is also subjective. To some the experience they were looking for was stock android, in this case the experience is the same. For others the "experience" are the things that you listed, in that case it isn't the same. Differing opinions, needs and wants will always result in different views of the Nexus "experience"

Just for you Richard! I have no signal problems on Verizon. An I didn't realize so many people got a Nexus to use stock Android and wait for updates from Google and not actually put ROMS on their device. I got a Nexus purely because of the developer following. The Verizon Galaxy Nexus has no shortage of developers so I'm quite happy. I've NEVER waited on Verizon to update my phone. I prefer custom ROMS. If given the choice between getting a Nexus from Google on any other network or getting one from Verizon, I'll pick Verizon every single time. I like having LTE in more places than everybody else and never dropping calls. I also only pay 10 bucks for my unlimited data. I seriously doubt I'll ever leave Verizon, especially not for some updates that I wouldn't be waiting for anyway. Just my .02.

My Verizon Nexus has every feature that a gsm Nexus has. Because it is a Nexus the support from the community makes up for whatever small issues Verizon has screwed up. The only phone to receive updates faster than my gnex is the gsm version...so to say it doesn't get updates is B.S.....My phone has been nothing short of a beast. I have Wallet, 4.1.2, etc....etc....all I want is the opportunity to continue to buy a phone that comes stock, without branding on the front, and gets the same community support....on Verizon!!! Because that is the network that just plain works in nearly every corner of this country.

Isn't it odd to you that the Galaxy Nexus versions with carrier branding don't offer the same experience as the Google branded Galaxy Nexus? Isn't it kind of odd that this website has three Galaxy Nexus forums? One for the Google Galaxy Nexus and then two additional forums for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Did that naming difference ever strike you as being sort of odd? You know all of the real Nexus devices that I can think of usually say Google in the name. Not the OEM that made it. I mean we call it the Google Nexus 7 don't we? Why is it that every single retailer that offers the sprint or Verizon Wireless Galaxy Nexus calls the device a Samsung Galaxy Nexus? Serious questions, if the CDMA Nexus is a real Nexus then why are there these differences in the experience, branding and naming?

If people are happy being able to say they have a Nexus just because of a word in the name than congratulations, you all have a Nexus! Sure they don't offer the advantages one would expect from a Nexus, but the name is sorda there and that's all that matters isn't it?

If you want answers to questions then do not answer them yourself. Neither you nor anyone else has provided any facts to support the claims made some what regularly about the Nexus phones and their intended purpose. All that has been offered are opinions. Of course VZW'S Nexus is different, it has to be because of CDMA and LTE.

Because, you or anyone else in this forum has decided to think the VZW version of the Nexus is not a "real Nexus" is irrelevant. None of us have that authority. So unless you can provide evidence from Google to support your claim, your opinion is wrong.

I'll agree with you on the prices, it blows forkin out as much money as I do every month. However, my unlimited data plan is pretty awesome. After the announcement of the DLX the new Nexus has taken a back seat for me.

1400 mins, 12 friends and family numbers, 2 unlimited data plans, and 1 dumb phone, and unlimited messaging on all 3 of those lines plus I get 25% off accessories. I usually have 900 min left over every month. I only pay 168 a month and that's with taxes and everything. Haven't found anything better especially with this good of service. That's why I'm staying. Just need a Nexus and I'll be perfectly happy.

I don't believe those plans are all that bad either (if you're not a power user). I'd save money if I switched to the share everything. I like the word unlimited in my plan though. Even though I've never used over 1.5 GB of data in the 6 years I've had the service haha

I get a 20% discount on monthly service from Verizon from my employer, and 20% off data and Verizon still costs about $20 more a month to get what I have from at&t now. Actually that was 2010, who knows how much more they cost now.

And every move at&t makes to screw their customers, Verizon copies and makes it worse. At&ts new share plans are a joke, but I am grandfathered into the 3 gig data plan for myself, 2 for my wife. We pay about $55 for 5 gigs now, if we switched to the new family shared plan we'd pay $80 for 1 gig . But at least at&t isn't making me switch like Verizon is.

I really hate both giants. Why am I still on at at&t then you ask? Familiarity, I joined them when they were Cingular Wireless in 2002, and I know what to expect from them, and with 10 years of service with them, I can haggle stuff out of them. But I hate limited data. In a time when cloud is supposed to be taking over, limited data is a setback... It's like the 1990s all over again "5 hours a month with AOL!"

Also I just don't trust tmobile or sprints coverage

They would be great for normal ppl but who gets a smartphone like this to be normal? As Google moves towards the cloud these companies limit our ability to use the cloud.

I have no love or hate towards any cell company personally. I've bounced around in the last 2 years from Sprint, T-Mo, and Straight Talk. Each have pluses and minuses and vary differently in price. I do think I'll be dropping T-Mo and making my way back to ST with AT&T towers. I found it generally a bit better signal wise even though the data with T-Mo is much better.

Gonna take a few months of me monitoring what my data consumption is like with unlimited data though. I know I'm not a 20GB a month user, but I KNOW I'm not a 500mb a month user either.

I think data will get better just like it has since days of AOL, its odd they went from unlimited to limited though you would think it would get cheaper for them to run networks. I'm just hoping someday we'll end up back with unlimited, but if not I do hope we get a bit more reasonable data allowance than what I consider to be unfair at this point.

Call me crazy, but I think $130 a month pre taxed for 2 ppl to share 1GB of data seems unreasonable high to me.

Wish they would have stayed with 5GB, would be enough for about 99% of users I would think.
