Yeah I'm surprised other carriers haven't implemented something similar. Pretty much cell service anywhere you have wifi but also... If you're traveling internationally and don't want to pay for a plan on an international carrier.. Simply connect to wifi when you're eating dinner or at your hotel to make free calls back to the US.

Either way though.. I just use text through the carrier. I just look at whatsapp and it sounds cool but.. I have unlimited talk and text so.. Don't see a benefit :o.

Doesn't Google Voice allow texting/calling via wifi?

There are tons of alternatives.. The only thing with the wifi calling for T-mobile is it requires nothing special. It simply shuts off the cell radio and uses wifi for calling and text.. Using your same number you do everyday for your phone. I leave the house? It hops back on cell tower. No special apps or anything.

No. Been very happy with Whatsapp messenger and all my family and friends are using Whatsapp. No need for bbm
