Yeah I'm surprised other carriers haven't implemented something similar. Pretty much cell service anywhere you have wifi but also... If you're traveling internationally and don't want to pay for a plan on an international carrier.. Simply connect to wifi when you're eating dinner or at your hotel to make free calls back to the US.

Either way though.. I just use text through the carrier. I just look at whatsapp and it sounds cool but.. I have unlimited talk and text so.. Don't see a benefit .

There are tons of alternatives.. The only thing with the wifi calling for T-mobile is it requires nothing special. It simply shuts off the cell radio and uses wifi for calling and text.. Using your same number you do everyday for your phone. I leave the house? It hops back on cell tower. No special apps or anything.
