Will you keep or return/sell your G4?

Will you be keeping your G4 or returning/selling it?

Definitely keeping.

I've had no battery drain/touch issues. So i guess I've been lucky. But this is the best android device i've ever held. The screen size is perfect. I don't like the s6 glass build. The leather feels great. Lovelovelove it.

KEEPING IT... Only issue for me is I miss Qi charging and the true Nexus no-bloat wear environment feel. First thing I did was load Google Now launcher. The G4 has the best Camera I have ever owned including three SLR 35mm and two digital cameras. First picture I took of friends at a bar and posted to FB everyone was replying "Really Great Picture". That never happen in the same bar with my Nexus 5's camera.

It was having a few hiccups but think updates will fix those. Like Clash of Clans gets stuck on load when the phone was sleeping and requires I close the App or even a few times I even needed a reboot. Maybe had one heat issue but not sure. Think these minor hiccups will be a software fix. Even though the battery life isn't as good as expected from the reviews it has never come close to not lasting me all day even playing several Clash of Clans games.

Screen is beautiful, very smooth, lot's of new options like 700Mhz band A support for T-Mobile, VoLTE and VoWiFi that my Nexus 5 didn't have. The brown leather back is now frustration it is so cool that I don't want a case but I am a case person and I don't want to even get one speck of stain on that leather back. First time in my life I found out I have OCD about keeping something clean since I love the look and feel of that Leather. LG hit a home run with the G4 in my opinion.

Just couldn't deal with the "lag" and/or stutter across the whole UI plus the unique weirdness of the Battery behavior where I was for up to 2 hours with 100% and then once it began to drop it never stopped even standby life was a mess, then on Friday I was at 75% after a full day at the office (4PM), that's very good, then once I left the office it began to drop without no apparent reason and by 9pm I was around 20% with just a little over 3 hours of SoT, way lower than my S6 edge.

I returned it on Saturday, it was a shame because I need a second phone as this one is paid by my office and I want to have my own (Even when it's going to be used on same line). I tried the G4 and it couldn't be, there is no other phone out there that I want or the ones I like I've already owned them recently (a LOT in the past year) so I decided to stay "safe" and today I ordered a SM-G920i (regular S6 International Unlocked Version), so now I'll own a White T-Mobile S6 edge and a Blue Topaz Unlocked S6. Good thing is that now I don't need to be using a SIM card adapter and been practically the same, I don't need to get used to one or the other every time I switch, so can do it more frequently now, depending on the need for a color. yeah I know, doesn't seem so exciting, but remember I need another phone right now no matter what and as of now there is no other I really want.

Shame it didn't work out for you mate, as not all G4's suffer from what you mentioned.

Lag I have tried to get it to but nope not even a stutter.

Hope you fair better with the S6, I know like me you have the Edge and its one that I like alot, but glad i can alternate between them.

See you for the G5 or G6 dude :-P

I'm not going to vote in the poll. I'm 100% satisfied with my G4. Sorry to hear there are issues with some phones, but the percentage of problems actually caused by bad hardware/firmware vs. bad apps/user error - we'll never know.

Anyone considering the G4 - it's a solid device. Buy it and in all likelihood you'll love it. And if you get a bad copy (very low probability) bring it back asap to exchange for a new one.

Yeah my only complaint is no Quick Charge... And as I have told the guys -- If that truly is my only gripe then I am doing well since that is a minor one :).

Quickcharge shortens the life of the battery from what I've read. Lucky for me I don't need or want it. My only complaint is carrier bloatware, but with H811 not a biggie.

I think you accidentally just did :-P

I am not worried about that -- Especially if the G4 had it due to the replaceable. I would get a new phone before I was ever worried about it (even with the S6).

Same here. Especially with 2 batteries. I don't think I've ever held onto the same phone for more than a year and even one battery should do just fine getting me through that.

Yeah, it was a shame, but just in case somebody think I didn't try, I did 3 factory reset in 8 days, still the same issues that I had since the first days.

But yes, maybe I can try LG for the third time next year, let see what they bring.

Keeping it. Love it so far. It isn't perfect but no phone ever will be. Might be replaced with the new Nexus later this year but we'll see!

Not really. It's a pretty crappy career. It's the only career where you need a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree to be a laborer. I'm going back to graduate school in the fall to be a teacher. There's no ticks, mosquitoes, hot weather, crappy pay, or rain to deal with in that profession.

Dang, there is always that off chance you get invited to Jurassic Park though!

For anyone who bought at Best Buy, I called tonight and asked about their return/exchange policy.

The person checked with their manager, and said that if you exchange the phone, your 14-day return policy does not reset. So if you exchange the phone on day 13, you have 1 day to decide whether to keep the replacement.

If, however, you do a complete return, and then buy the same phone again, you get a new 14-days. She said they do not charge a restocking fee.

However, I did not think to ask if I'd pay the activation fee again. I have Verizon, 2-year contract.

Mine has heating issues. Others have reported that replacements ran cooler. I have a few days left on my 14-days, so I need to decide what to do. I am reluctant to keep the current one, as I'm concerned it's a hot-running example. And I don't like the idea of only having 2 days to evaluate a replacement, before being committed for 2 years.

So I guess I have to decide if I want to return & re-buy, or simply return and let the dust settle for a month or so, and see how things develop. Relative to battery life, heat issues, touchscreen sensitivity, etc.

I really do like the phone overall, but I don't want to be stuck facing heat and battery-life issues for 2 years. And if the phone is running hot and draining the battery, it's a double-edged sword, as my charge rate is also reduced due to the high temps. So I can't even recharge quickly during the day. Yes, the second battery would certainly help, but I don't want to be "forced" to carry a spare battery around. Decisions, decisions....

Keeping it until the new Moto X at least. I'll make the sell or not decision then. I really like this phone, but I definitely miss active notifications. Though I don't miss the AMOLED screen after seeing this one.

I tried to find 1 g4 at the corporate store tonight that didn't have the same problems I was having. None out of the 5 they had in the store worked as they should. All had the antenna gate syndrome to a varying degree. The worst of the lot would loose WiFi completely and drop to 1 bar of lte service. The techs couldn't believe it.

I am depressed knowing that 5 phones were bad.So this tells me that that entire lot could be like mine was. ......

I'm bummed out over this. I found this out after doing my exchange......and luckily for me they went ahead and allowed me to change to a different phone make.

I am very disappointed that LG allowed these phones out of QC...but not surprised or angry knowing that things like this happens all the time to the best products.

I compared everything they had and settled on the s6 Active. I dislike the fact of no removable battery and no SD card....so I will have to rely on the cloud somehow......and I already miss the rear buttons a lot......but the saving grace is the big 3500 battery

Now I have to call LG and try to get a refund for the 2 leather backs I ordered and exchange my nib glass screen protector.

I really tried guys, honest I did.

I'll drop in from time to time and see how it goes with you all...You all are a super group

Goodluck

Keeping mine, it's a sweet phone. Like it better than my S4. No battery issues at all. Goes 24 hours no problem and charges pretty fast.

Quickcharge is working fine for me.
I really like the G4. It is an excellent device and I've really struggled with the decision. However, this morning I finally decided to reset the device and package it up to send back to T-Mobile. Going to stick with my S6 for now. In the end I just slightly preferred the build, display, and camera of the S6 over the G4 by the slimmest of margins. The display is the only thing where I think the S6 has an absolute advantage, everything else is pretty much splitting hairs and I'd be very content with either phone. Battery life, for my use, has been pretty much equal between the two.

I switched from a GN3 about a week back and am pleased with this device. The screen and UI are esthetically pleasing. The battery life compared to the 3 is BANANAS. Sounds like I'm one of the lucky ones in that regard.

I'm sorry that some folks are having problems but I'm also glad that I'm not having any of those issues myself! My G4 has been great for my use thankfully! 😀

You have the American T-Mobile version. I have the international one which I believe doesn't have it.. Most likely the cause.
