Wireless Charging and Samsung Pay Broken after Oreo Update

My Verizon Note 8 wireless charging feature no longer works since updating to Oreo. In addition, Samsung Pay no longer works either. I can sit the phone on the Samsung brand charger model number EP-NG930 which the charger recognizes the phone because the bolt symbol appears on the battery in the taskbar, but never charges.

Also, I've tried three stores that worked the day before I updated to Oreo, but now nothing. The chip readers don't recognize the phone, however, I've been able to use Samsung Pay on my Gear S3 so that leads me to believe it has to do with the Oreo update..

Has anyone else experienced these issues, if so how did you resolve it?

I fear a hard reset is my only option... Ugh!

have you cleared the external cache, and the caches for the apps? start there if not. I detest FRs, though they are sometimes necessary. it is my very last resort.

I cleared the caches for Samsung Pay, but I never heard of a cache for Wireless Charging. Are you referring to the power+volume down+Bixby cache clear? If so...yes,I've tried that as well.

Wireless charging works for me.
I"ve never used Samsung pay so I can't speak on that, other than mine was updated this morning.

After an hour working with a rep in the Tech Coach app, they were able to determine the Oreo update somehow disabled the MST feature for Samsung Pay and the Wireless Charging feature. What is also interesting is that they said they've been receiving calls from all over reporting the same issue. If it didn't happen to you, you're lucky. In my case they are going to overnight a new phone because it's still under warranty even though I purchased mine on launch day. They also don't make you pay a deductible.

If anyone has these issues due to updating to Oreo and pays for the monthly Asurion Insurance...download the Tech Coach App and go through the process. It's a known issue and all they will do it have you factory reset your phone and when they see it's still not wirelessly charging, they will start the claim for you. Be sure to backup your data and such before going through this, but at least they are aware it's possible for this issue to arise and will give you little pushback.

They told me the phone will ship with Nougat 7.1.1 and it's up to me to take the risk of updating to Oreo. I'm not sure what to do. I may hold off on the update.

I'm holding for now. maybe by the next iteration we get it will be fixed. no hurry here.

My wireless charging works just fine on Note 8 after update to Oreo. I don't use any credit card features like Samsung Pay so can't comment on them.

I'm on tmobile and my wireless charging works. I tried Samsung Pay this morning and it worked. Vending machine purchase like I've done before, but it's been a while. I've been using my S3.
Updated to Oreo yesterday.

Well I am very grateful for this thread. I am also very happy that it was so easy to find through a Google search.

I just updated to Android Oreo yesterday and only realized later this morning my wireless charging didn't work. After reading this thread I realized that there might be a link between Samsung pay and the loss of my wireless charging.
I checked all my settings and fast wireless charging was on. I turned it off just to see if that would fix it. When you turn it off it automatically defaults to slow wireless charging, which also did not work.

I then removed Samsung pay, Samsung pay for my gear S3, in disabled Samsung pay framework.

After that it rebooted my phone and wireless charging worked fine.

Although I installed it and set it up I have never used Samsung pay.

I have to say I'm spoiled by wireless charging. I usually put my phone on the charger at night in the dark and rarely have problems.

I know this solution disables Samsung pay and that may not be a great option for everyone.

Again I want to thank everyone who contributed to this thread it saved me a lot of time and frustration.

Interesting result! I wonder what would happen if you added Samsung Pay back in.

I'm glad to lend a hand to those in need as I've been in your shoes before and saved by other members on this site. It's strange and even when I spoke to the rep at Tech Coach, they told me the two were linked in some technical way. They said not everyone would be impacted, but a percentage will experience issues with the update because of the sequencing of codes within the update. I'm not sure I followed the techs language, but it was obvious it was an issue or they wouldn't have overnighted me a new (not refurbed) phone.

All in all, it's a known problem for some, not all, people to experience wireless and/or Samsung Pay issues with this update. Nothing is 100% so even though 90% of users update just fine...the other 10% of us just have to file a claim because from what I was told....it is covered under warranty.

T-mobile here. Samsung pay seems to work better for me. Used about 4 times since update. Have never used wireless charging so not sure about it.

Phone now is warm/hot upon removal from wireless charger (not fast charge) since update, but I have not confirmed it as just happened once since update ~yesterday.

I uninstalled Samsung Pay and restarted my Note 8. Now my wireless charging is working again. That's a lot easier than resetting and losing all my settings. It is working great now. I did not reinstall Samsung Pay.
