Would you buy a T-bolt today?

There will always be something better "just around the corner", especially considering the current trend in smartphone rotation.

Whatever you decide 4G is the way to go. For me the choice was HTC.

I've test driven a number of mods, but settled on Liquid Thunderbread 2.6 for my daily. Combination of a lean AOSP rom with speed, stability (GPS works, except for known bug with Weather app), and good connectivity won me over.

Yes

Droid Charge:Samsung, no thank you

LG Revolution: Not even a comparison

Droid Bionic: Plastic phone with moto blur, me no likey

HTC Thunderbolt: HTC made, aluminum body and by far has the best stock software out there.

and just for kicks

Apple iPhone4: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I LOVE THIS... and totally agree. It's been a rough ride with my Tbolt, but now that the kinks are, for the most part, worked out.. I'm a happy camper.

No. No way in hell.

From a software perspective, the Thunderbolt is the best I've seen, but the absolute horrid battery consumption would be a huge no-go for me.

With the extended battery (which makes the Thunderbolt look like a paper weight), moderate use, and only a few apps running in the background, I'm usually down to 20% battery by the end of the day. THAT'S WITH THE EXTENDED BATTERY!

On a busy day (using the phone as a phone), I can't go the day without plugging it in for a while.

...and all of this is in an area with no 4G (I have the 4G turned off to save battery anyway).

The Thunderbolt isn't/wasn't ready for prime time.

Thunderbolt is still the only phone on VZW that can do simultaneous voice and 3G data. It's way better today than it was with MR1. MR2 fixed most things. The 2.11 RUU has really improved speed and battery life. I'm a heavy user and go 30-39 hours between charging (with HTC 2750mAh battery). If I was buying today it would still be Thunderbolt. Community and developer support is outstanding.

Stock software just works, extremely reliable and fast.
battery life in gingerbread, comes out this month is much better than it was at launch.
I think it's still the best 4G LTE Verizion phone.
Myself I'd probably wait for some dual core, but if your on a budget or want something proven good
you won't go wrong with a thunderbolt, plus you can pick it up these days for practically nothing if you look around.

Absolutely. The Tbolt is my first smart phone (and introduction to Android). I love this phone. I got it back in April and have not had 1 issue. I use it at least 1-4 hours a day.

Plus, now it's super cheap (I paid $260 with a 2 year renewal). Amazon currently has it for 0.01$. That's right, a friggin penny! (with contract renewal or new contract)

I'm very happy with this phone, and have never regretted buying it. It has gotten me hooked on Android

I've had mine since a week after they came out. I'm picking another one up for my wife when her contract expires next month. So I would say, yes.

The thunderbolt is great and all but I wouldn't get it at this point in time. For one the Thunderbolt is just an OK phone stock. Rooted with one of the many custom Roms this phone is amazing. Even with that said I wouldn't get it with the Vigor and possibly the Nexis Prime(or Droid Prime whatever it's going to be called) I would wait another prime. If you're into Motarola since you have a Droid x get the Bionic (although that phone doesn't impress me at all). So hold out a month. See whats coming before you make your decision.

I have owned and still do just about every phone out there, not kidding, if I listed them all you would think I was lying to you. I have carrier contracts right now with T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon. I jumped on Verizon to get the unlimited data plan before it was too late and that is when I bought what I think is the best device out there right now, the Thunderbolt. I also bought the HTC over sized battery 2700 and the seidio protective case. Live in a solid LTE area with knock out speeds. Besides the speed this phone is just a pleasure to use, great internal memory, 32 gig sd card which is worth $70.00 alone. I am very happy I bought this phone and the development of custom roms is fantastic. I can not say enough good things about this phone. Over and Out.
Vinny :) :)

I work at best buy in deal with phones on a daily basis, I own a thunderbolt and could not be happier... That being said the charge has a little bit better battery life and because it hasn't amoled screen you can see it better outdoors, however there are so many great rom for the thunderbolt and if you do decide to root you will not be disappointed... In the end it all comes down to personal choice... Just whatever you do do not get the l g revolution, the phone sucks... You free 2 pm me if you have any questions for details if you need to know about either and all phones

Thanks to everyone that offered their opinions. I think that most of you feel that the big kinks are worked out and its a decent phone, not great phone. I really can't think of any phone that doesn't have some quirk or problem with it. I realize better is always around the corner and don't want to play that game. If they pan out and are good phones, I can always get one next year when my wife's phone is up.

So I think I'll pull the trigger on the T-bolt!

I would not have purchased a Thunderbolt knowing what I know today... :'( Why create a phone with an advanced processor of which the battery cant handle? Who wants to carry around a bulky phone because of an extended battery or keep it connected to a charger???

I bought the Thunderbolt when it came out. My girlfriend had a Droid x. She recently was due for an upgrade so we decided to look around. The thunderbolt is still the best.she LOVES it. I never did like the droid x. It had the worst UI I've ever seen on a modern smart phone.

Even if we hadn't rooted it and installed Cyanogen Mod 7 on it, kits still better than the others.

i wouldnt even consider the thunderbolt after all the issues it has had,
htc really hit a ball with that device, so many issues

and to boot because of all those issues, my cousin after his 5th thunderbolt has moved to the iphone and couldnt be happier, not one issue and says the battery life is 10x better.

now thats unacceptable that because of that device we turned someone to the dark side.

id avoid this phone like a plague and wait for something much better and newer, like the bionic or the droid prime,
from what i know about the tbolt, for the love of god stay away!

lol whyy?

:p

All these people talking about all the issues the Thunderbolt has had (while most of the complainers have never even owned one) have no ideal how far this device has come. It is currently the best smartphone available from Verizon. Also, with the upcoming Gingerbread update it will be even more awesome. If you love Sense, it has never been better. And if you hate Sense, a rooted Thunderbolt can do wonderful things. For the ones speaking of battery life, with a rooted rom and my extended battery (which by the way looks and feels great, I love the added weight) my phone lasts well into the next day! One other thing, I'm not one of those guys that defend their phone religiously, I hate those types. I was one of the Thunderbolt's worse critics when i first acquired one! Like I said, it has come a long way. Hope this helps.

So because you know one person who had issues with the phone, you can make a blanket statement that its a bad phone? Even when the phone was having issues after the MR1 update, it still wasn't that widespread as people thought. For the number of phone's sold, the percentage that were having major rebooting issues was not that high.
