WOW! Samsung lowering S21 shipments from 35m to 26m! Samsung customers have spoke. The S21 is a flop

I wanted to buy the Note 21 since I have bought every Note since the Note II with the exception of the Note 5 which was gutted just like the S21 was. I even bought the S7 and S8 after the fired up Note 7. Remember the S6/Note 5? Big drop in sales cause Samsung to bring back the micro SD slot.

Based on the S21 there is 100% chance I will stop doing annual upgrades with Samsung phones. How long do you think I can realistically not upgrade? 5 years?

I'm part of the revolt and boycott of the featureless S21/Note 21 to force Samsungs hand into bringing features back. ????????????

I'm sure there are literally millions of products you don't think are worth your money. Why would anyone care to hear about them? Why would you want to waste your time talking about them? Find something you DO like and enjoy yourself.

The main reason Samsung is looked at as a joke is because they jump to make fun of and criticize Apple’s choices on charger, headphone jack etc.. Then they go and directly copy Apple. Makes them look like complete imbeciles.

According to industry sources, the Korean tech giant has lowered its shipment expectations to 26 million units, which is down from the S20’s 35 million....Lower shipment expectations might mean lower initial sales, but that doesn’t necessarily indicate that the Galaxy S21 will sell poorly. Samsung is likely keeping an eye on the market and will adjust production and supply accordingly.

CLickbait as mentioned. They didn't forcast 35M then reduced to 26M. They are just lowering the number that was done for the S20. So you could infer the S20 was a success as people don't want to trade it in maybe?

Either way, good for their whole "we care about the environment and waste" kick. Better to reduce 9M phones and the waste it generates from manufacturing and mining of precious metals for use in said phones. That is more helpful than not including a charger.

Now I do hope sales lag a bit, and they opt to bring back the SD slot. They already have the slot for the SIM card and the difference in size isn't that much of a difference since they are combined in the same tray before.

Couldn't agree more. It's exhausting to voice how much you don't like something in a group that has interest in the product
It must be exhausting having to tell everyone about every product you don't want to buy. How many days does a quick trip to Target take?

Wouldn't it be more pleasant to simply talk about the phone you did choose? There is probably a forum for it, where like-minded people can share tips and experiences.

I'm part of that lower statistic. Seems Samsung has not learned since the S6 debacle. No SD, no sale. Apparently per Samsung marketing, they are done with sd cards. My guess is they might change direct that.

Samsung is playing numbers semantics like with the S6. They are comparing sell in to retail numbers, which are not real numbers for consumer sell through. Sell through is actual demand.

Samsung likes touting sell in numbers to prop numbers up, if a device is not selling well. They use sell through consumer numbers when they are selling well.

I really don't care about the numbers TBH. Buy the phone or don't buy the phone it is what it is. I do think they felt the heat after last year's disappointment with the S20 line because the pre-order bonuses are pretty solid and they were shipped quick.

Anyone that does not think that Samsung did not account for the flu in their original numbers must think Samsung is stupid. Apple sales are up and Samsung sales are down.

Just go to a Best Buy and ask. Pre-orders are way below expectations.

Dont care about the numbers and all phones now are minimal upgrades year to year. I get for some they take features away that people like amd yes that sucks. So gotta find something that fits for you. For me the s21 ultra is what the s20 ultra should have been. It was a huge upgrade imo. I Love this phone and will be keeping it for the long term.

I'm not concerned by that. I'm sure when the phone is officially released and there are more demos available, people will buy more units.

Never used SD card in 5-6 years because I don't like them and prefer internal storage and most of my stuff is in cloud since I use many devices and need the same data sync across all. For MST yeah used it few times but most of the places I go use NFC so no big deal. Personally S21 Ultra is very polished and way better than S20 Ultra in design/looks and camera. I like the design direction.

Granted even though I don't use SD card I don't mind being there since people love that feature but for me not a big deal since I don't use it. And I think Samsung is done with SD card and hard to see them making another U turn like after S6.

And like it or not, they are going to sell the phones just fine. They will have their retail partners pushing the devices like crazy to normal people who could care less about this stuff.

Not a flop, but the more they behave like Apple with features, the more market share they lose.
Thats one thing these Andriod manufacturers need to understand , Apple is a different OS then them it makes no sense to follow what they doing as your getting 2 very different experiences , let Apple do Apple and Android do what they always done . I use both platforms but tend to lean more on Andriod as I like the experience , but once a company finds a way to cut losses everyone follows.

Are we really that surprised with Samsung leaving the brick out though? Regardless of their bashing ads we knew it was coming when they started to take out the headphones. It gets me that people think taking the sd slot out is "following Apple". I love my sd slot as much as anyone, but it's something I knew would be coming around again as I don't think the masses care if they have one or not especially since the only other manufacturer to still use it in flagships is LG. Now MST I didn't see coming but I'll digress as I've spoken enough on it. My biggest complaint with the S21 series is that it should've been at least 256gb(at least on the Ultra) base wise. Due to the awesome trade-in deals I won't be surprised when they report the S21 out selling the S20 two to one.

Samsung is big enough now that they can throw their weight around like Apple, and do things knowing they'll anger people, but also knowing they're a household name just like Apple, and most folks will want them regardless of what they take away, and regardless of price because they're Samsung. But, Apple had a market reckoning in the recent past, and had to start offering a wider range of more budget friendly phones.... and Samsung's not above having something similar happen to their flagship lines if they're perceived to be pushing the greed envelope too far.

Only time (and lots of complaining I guess lol) will tell. I do think that for a company that prices their flagships as the best phones in the world, they are woefully inadequate in the software support department :-\

You must not have been keeping up with Samsung lately. In terms of software support they really been stepping up lately. In terms of updates they are now surpassing Google's line of phones in terms of updates which is pretty big. As you stated Samsung is a big name that carries a lot of weight. I wish they'd flex it more with carriers when it comes to native features and colors as we're tired of certain memory variants been limited to just black or the ultra premium headsets not getting the cool colors. The thing I will give credit for is not having region exclusives their colors and memory variants are seamless with the device model. Maybe we're inching close to that happening. That along with them finally giving us esim support.
