XLTE...OK TMo what are you going to do now?

Could you explain 10 x 10 mhz??

Verizon claims xlte doubles the LTE bandwidth, so not 5x5. But 10x10 would double. I am pretty sure Verizon has at least 20mhz aws everywhere. And in many places, 40mhz

Verizon's 700 MHz has 10 mhz downlink + 10mhz uplink

10mhz is the width of the spectrum allotted to either downlink or uplink. The larger the spectrum width, the higher the capacity and the higher the speed capability.

Since Verizon doubled their 700MHz lte capacity with aws, they would have to add a minimum of 10 + 10mhz aws. In some areas they tripled lte capacity by offering 20 + 20mhz aws.

How many devices can you get on a 10mhz?

80Mbps on Verizon?! That'll gobble up your lousy 2GB data plan in no time! What's the point? Lol.

I'm on TMo, my son is on VZW. We're in the Chicago area. My son just sent me a text reporting that he got 84Mbps down inside his school building.......WHOA!! I'm luck if I can get a 1/4 of that speed inside. :(
This is T-Mobile speeds in Honolulu right now. Not quite xlte speeds. But am not complaining.

TMo is still slow upgrading the network around Chicago...it's not bad, just not as good as some of the results I'm seeing from other locations.......like yours.....that's pretty awesome!

How do you like your Z3........just brought one home.

LuvMusic,
It simply the best phone I ever owned.
Have you tried watching 1080p time lapsed video on YouTube? The colors and sharpness is stunning! It looks better than Imo the LG G3 screen. And battery life? Gosh... easy one full day moderate to heavy use 5am till 10 PM no problem. How do you like your Z3?

When wide band hits Chicago you will notice it. Your z3 will feel like it is on steroids.

Haven't watched any movies yet however I can say the screen is a big improvement over what I was experiencing with my Z1s......more vivid and better viewing angles. I have redeemed my free movies, so, it's only a matter of time before I do watch a movie.

Really enjoying my Z3, the changes Sony made are excellent. The phone is lighter, getting great performance and everything seems to be working as I would expect. Battery life has been awesome....I've been off my charger since 8:00 AM on Sunday with moderately heavy use and still at 60%. Only 36 hours as an owner and so far I am pleased.

Can't wait for TMo to spread a little love on their Chicago area network.

How is the coverage in Chicago? I can tell you in terms of speed download? People who say you won't feel the difference anything above 4MB's down
Is a lie. For example one of the first apps I downloaded when I got my Z3 was candy crush. It was 57 MB file size.
As soon as I tapped install. It said download then installing in less than 3 seconds. Thats why I did a speed test
And low and behold I was pulling 105Mbs.With my old z1s the highest I seen was little over 70Mbs download.
I have no idea where this increase came from? I am in the same locations.

When I think about the answer to your question I think in terms of density and speed. The density, area of coverage, is great. I almost always have LTE and always have reliable service.

Speed is a different story and it is very uneven. In my home I average around 25mbps down and about 6mbps up. I have gotten as high as 50mbps down and 10mbps up in other areas within the Chicago area. I believe that since the density of LTE is pretty good in Chicago TMo is looking to expand its coverage into areas that have no TMo service and build out LTE in areas that have service but not LTE. From a business perspective, this makes sense. From a personal customer perspective it is frustrating.

Not a big problem though since much of the time when I'm doing data heavy lifting (downloading big apps for example) I'm at home with my AC router. My home network is very fast.

It's really not so much the difference in speed as it is the difference in latency. Fast LTE creates a data session much more quickly, THAT'S what you notice. Even fast HSPA is fairly slow in establishing a session before you can do anything.

25MBs down is good speeds.
Thats great to hear as far as coverage in your area in concerned is good.
T-Mobile will be deploying 700mhz lte in the near future so, hopefully, Chicago and rural areas in your neck of the woods will see a good improvement in
Coverage.

Yes, and as you can see being out in the middle of the Pacific, I don't get great latency times as you all on the mainland. But I can say it is not so bad bad once the speed kicks in

Don't think so. According to this map on the TMo News blog, Chicago is in a red zone.........a zone where a protected TV station is operating in the 700mhz band. Until the TV station moves to another frequency, no 700mhz for ChiTown! :'(

Lol thank God I left t-mobile with that info. I live in the middle the circle in nyc which also won't be using that for a while and I don't get service in my house as it is

My area won't be having 700... Not for awhile but I think I'll be okay. My city is very spread out. :).

Luckily in Hawaii seems we dont need the 700mhz band just yet. I'm
Loving our 100MB+ speeds
