Xoom Boot Animation On Droid X

It would have to be resized and in the same format as the device. This will work for moto devices but I believe the dinc is a different set up and file name. The original images are smaller than the screen size of the x so its off in size. Going to rework it today and hope for better.

It would be so awesome if you could refine it a bit more to properly display on our screens, I'll be checking in on this thread throughout the day in hopes you'll come through.

I will be playing around with this later tonight. Right now im enjoying some beers thanks to donations and watching nascar :)

Question

Ok, so I am new to this whole rooting thing since I finally got the courage to root my Droid X yesterday. I still have the stock ROM (still a little afraid to install a custom Rom...lol) on my phone and was wondering with the stock ROM, if I can still change the bootanimation on my phone? I have Root Explorer installed and was wondering if all I had to do was copy the bootanimation.zip I downloaded from the first page of the forum and put it in the folder system/media (taking the original droid bootanimation.zip out and saving it on my sd card) it will work? I think this is what I have been gathering to be correct???? Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks for the help.

Yup. First find the stock one. In system media or data local. Rename it to bootanimation.bak. then go to SD card and copy then paste to data local. Reboot :-)

Two more questions:

1. Am I renaming the stock boot animation to bootanimation.bak?

2. Am I putting the new boot animation in system/media or data/local because their is only one folder in the data/local folder called temp and their is nothing in that folder

Sorry for sounding like such a noob...but I am infact a noob and I dont want to brick my phone or anything lol

Yes rename stock so all you have yo do is name it back to .zip and it will work again. Don't drop in temp drop in the local folder so you will see the temp folder and boot zip. Something like this wont brick your phone no matter how bad you mess it up.

When I try to rename the stock boot animation it does let me because it says bootaninmation.zip cannot be renamed because the file system is read-only? Any suggestions? Thanks for you help

Easy fix. Top right says r/o and r/w click that then do it. Should have the r/w next to the box like below.

worked like a charm...now I gotta figure out how to replace the M logo with that sexy bee :)

Go into my m logo replacement post and its by the end. Dl and put on sd card. Boot into recovery with bootstrapper and install zip from sd card.

Fix to make the boot better looking is almost done. Just flipped all the images. Now working out a speed for it. Will post in a bit.

Any ideas after installation that my phone will just continue to restart whenever it wants too? Must have restarted 20 times on yesterday and in the middle of me posting this it restarted. Any ideas how to make this go away? Just lost connection to a restart again! So aggravating!!

I have never seen that happen before. I would flash a backup or boot recovery and wipe data and cache. See if that helps.
