Why do they want it back? I wouldn't imagine there are any trade secrets in a prototype of a released device.

My only guess would be to figure out who leaked it to avoid issues with future products.

Motorola is gong to switch me out,.. they said it was a prototype. I just want a damn xoom i can use.. they are telling me to power it down, and wait for them to mail me labels. Its going to be weeks before i get to use a xoom.. Sucks! I will update you guys if anything else happens

You should have made them send you a unit first and then ship yours back in the same box with return labels.

You have a titanium 3G Xoom with the motorola logo on the back off to the upper left where all the others are in the middle, plus there's a square of some sort by the left speaker and an extra feature by the power button (extra flash or a cover missing ?) I'd keep it for rare sakes.What did you pay for it anyway?

You have a titanium 3G Xoom with the motorola logo on the back off to the upper left where all the others are in the middle, plus there's a square of some sort by the left speaker and an extra feature by the power button (extra flash or a cover missing ?) I'd keep it for rare sakes.What did you pay for it anyway?

Interesting you say that about the square by the speaker.. its got like two little buttons in the board, so small it would take a needle to press them. I never pressed either one. sd card does work.

I paid $500 for the unit, Should have paid retail and I would be using my xoom!

Actually to be honest i want to be able to use the 3g and this unit being a prototype I imagine that wouldn't happen, (although it does work atm). So they assure me they are sending me a new unit, and that this one is not to be on the market. I will let you guys know if they actually do send me a new one. I hope so, I just got a tease with this prototpye

I'm very curious if there is more than just cosmetic differences with that "prototype" xoom than a regular xoom. Maybe you got something "extra" or not.

Like the user above me said, post on XDA this is pretty weird... the SD card works and the device is so different. Or maybe these are some leaked images, could we get more pictures? Or maybe the thing booting up?

Its too late for a system dump, its on it way to moto security div via fedex. The head of security emailed me and sent me labels to mail it back. He assured me that they would ship out a replacement as soon as they verified the prototype. I hope so!

As far as pics go, those are the only two I took. After finding out it wasn't supposed to be for sale, i didnt really want it laying around for too long. Wife wasnt too happy either..lol
