Your way to Update...

E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)

Installation aborted.

That's what I get when trying to update after rebooting. There is also a dead android with an exclamation point dead in the background.

Correction from my earlier post...

That is my exact message.

Settings / manage apps / see if you can find either android.process.media or com. android.process.media and clear data. Restart phone.

I went into settings and application manager but didn't see any file like that, I am also getting this error message. Unfortunately.the process.com.google.process.gapps has stopped. Help fix this:mad:

Well I am stock, but rooted with custom recovery, and my update was much simpler. Grabbed the OTA Zip from post 2 and I used a copy of Team Epic's Root from Recovery V5 and did the following...

1) Reboot into CWM
2) Backup (JIC)
3) Cleared the cache (again JIC)...but left data intact
4) Ran the update
5) Ran Root from Recovery (to restore root and leave CWM unchanged)
6) Reboot

Worked like a champ.. It's the same method I've used for the past few updates. Don't have to remove root, didn't have to restore anything, all settings intact....good to go

just an idea for some...

Well I am not rooted please help me fix my phone. I keep getting these error messages.

I am guessing you used the simple flash in recovery return to stock method? Is this true?

But just now I followed this guide to see if it would work ..... http://forums.androidcentral.com/sprint-galaxy-s-iii/195095-updated-sprint-only-unroot-return-stock.html#post2017547

Now the phone keeps asking to update every time I boot it up. It doesn't even update. Also every boot it says touchwiz home stopped working and that the sprint connection optimizer has also stopped working.

Do method in post 3 in this thread the top one is rooted stock and the bottom is unrooted stocks. It will install jellybean official version on your phone.

Im getting "failed to verify whole-file signature"
"Signature verification failed" when I try to do the update you posted here, totally stock galaxy s3

Your fix is most likely a factory reset. There is no way back without losing your data. Do you might as well do a factory reset.

You was so correct now no error messages after I did a factory reset and I got my pictures back. Thank you for your help.:)

Re download the file. It sounds like you have an incomplete download.

When reporting issues, please post which method you were using. Post 2, 3, or 4.
