scratch that...i forgot that's the update.zip for the rageagainstthecage exploit! OOPS

Note-I'm trying to port this to an Optimus V, do not try what I'm posting here!!!
OK, I decided to go ahead and risk my phone and try it out. I cleaned out the radio image and a few other things that made me nervous, edited the updater-script and build prop, added su, busybox, and superuser, resigned everthing. I did a nandroid backup of course, did a full wipe, installed the modified Sprint Gingerbread zip, flashed gapps, then flashed mmarz's sprint-to-ov zip file.
The phone started up, showed the standard LG logo, then all of a sudden there was an explosion and the sprint logo appeared, kinda cool actually. It then went through the standard android bootanimation, and next thing you know I'm at the account sign in screen.
I hadn't taken the necessary steps to get it working with the virgin mobile network, and the wifi modules don't seem compatible as is (at first), but I was able to boot into the OS, and use the phone minus network/phone capabilities. The interface is buttery smooth, and everything else seems to work great. Tried to power off and it just hung at the powering off box, pulled battery, rebooted, wifi works fine, signed into market fine. On second time I opened market, it upgraded. Email works fine, browser works fine.
Good news for future ROM upgrades and builds!
i just want to know this: first all that i got on my phone is gingerbreak..no custom roms or clockwork. just gingerbreak... sw version ls670zvd. will the ota work with this or do i have to revert back to stock. thank you for any help you give.
so all you did was root your phone? no custom recoveries or anything...? all you have to do is unroot your phone ive never tried to do ota stuff through gingerbreak... ha cuz i always have a custom recovery... but honestly id just wait till everyone has everything ready to go and guides how to root and install custom stuff because custom everything is way better than stock!!
DWhy would you go back to stock anyway. The benefits of being rooted with a custom rom out way anything a stock phone could possibly ever do!

thats what im saying... stock everything sucks pretty much its slow and bloated with all the sprint crap...
and i hate the sprint stuff...

That's why I get so offended when people knock drew for the lack of updates. His rom is on another level. I wont update again until he releases his version.

im not knocking him of his abbilities... im juss happy that people have already figured it out... but honestly drew has helped me a lot... and ill only do things from his posts (most of the time) im juss saying that i love that this stuff is all happening before the update has been out for 24 hours...
