ZVH OTA update.zip

i can't seem to get the stock email.apk to work. first click immediately closes, second click goes to a black screen and does nothing. odd...

everything else appears to be working just fine!
Did you clear your dalvik-cache?

Thanks for all your hard work solodogg, sfhub, and scrosler!

I haven't had time to look dig into this yet, just quick browsed the zip file. Do you think the blobs we usually use to build from IHO could be replaced with the ones from this for better performance? Does the kernel require the new radio, or would it work with an OV radio image? Just wondering what I can use from this until such a time as LG releases source we can work from?

The kernel does not require the new radio, but it causes much issues with ZVD-based ROMs. You should try it and let me know!

Also: whoever is going to write the rooting guide, you may use my ZVC (or ZVD) guides as a basic template. However the warning, info and note boxes will not work for you if you are not an Advisor, Mod, Developer, etc.

yah, i think i'll leave the guide to someone else. the fact that it's been achieved is good enough, and using v9/rageagainstthecage works flawlessly :)

I still havent been able to flash using the update zip (v9 recovery) Im going to see if its my sd card

My phone came with VD and i have the new LCD. I also am only rooted with gingerbreak, no roms and no kernals, and no recoveries have been flashed. So what does this mean for me? lol :)

I can get the guide in the morning if you want to give me a pm. Or Google talk me.

I originally rooted by phone with the old rageagainstthecage process; so, I'm happy to hear that at least that is still working with the new update. This may be a dumb question, but if I go ahead and follow the process that solodogg has outlined in this thread, will I still be able to restore my old nandroids or will they no longer work due to the updated radio?

Ok possible tip:-)I have not seen it mentioned in the thread yet. When I had my first opt s I had v9 radio version, anyway couldn't use gingerbreak to root, so I used the Z4root mentioned in the lego version 1 rooting instructions! To my knowledge it only works on v9:-) hope it helps to quickly root! I'm now on zvd so havnt tried it

Won't know for sure unless someone tries it.

We know the ZVH Android won't work well with ZVD radio. We don't know if ZVD Android will work with ZVH radio.

maybe stupid question, but did you make sure to rename the download update.zip?

yeah,

I don't think the update.zip on your sdcard is the one you downloaded even though you may think it is.
and yes its the correct zip. (the ee89aea350f.update.zip -->renamed to update) Im going to try yet again, using a different computer, re-root my phone, flash Xionia recovery, then reflash the stock V9 recovery, and also try another sdcard for. If it doesnt work, ill just wait for a custom rom with this update

jcwxguy - are you sure you got the whole file, my download of update.zip posted here keeps cutting out at 40% -- no good. Even 99.9999% wouldn't work. I guess I won't be a guinea pig tonight. I'll check back tomorrow. ;)

Either it is your recovery or your update.zip. Those are the only things in the picture.

Based on your symptoms, I would guess it is update.zip

what is the md5sum on your update.zip

Code:
busybox md5sum update.zip

Mine is
Code:
ca513fcb26917a01ea126948fa811565
