Right under the 4GLTE button is the prepaid button...push that and refresh and coverage shrinks.

According to the local Verizon company store...Edge customers use the prepaid system for phone and data. They do not get what is shown on the 4GLTE map as "extended network." (dark brown on the map you've posted)

Right it says pre-paid...there is no option for a Verizon Edge coverage map...It doesn't say pre-paid/edge users, nothing on the Verizon website supports what you were "told". Bottom line, u were mis-informed...

The false information about Edge being a prepaid plan and having prepaid coverage needs to stop. It's the same coverage you would be getting on a post paid plan, it's not prepaid. If a Verizon Rep actually told you that, then not only are they stupid but probably should be fired. I highly doubt this was a Corporately owned store however, because that would make it 100 times worse. It's not prepaid. It's not really even month to month. You are not signing a two year SERVICE CONTRACT, but are agreeing to a payment plan. It's the same as AT&T Next Program, Sprints program and Tmobile, none of which are prepaid. Also their is no "Edge Coverage map". Their is a prepaid one, but that has nothing to do with Edge.

You can shove your "highly doubt" where the sun don't shine.

I stated what I was told by VERIZON, you don't like what I was told...too bad.

Your response there was not warranted. You were given false information, like others have stated. And my "highly doubt" was not saying you were lying about the information given, but that it was given by someone that possibly worked at a private retailer (who only recently were allowed to sell Edge, and it's well known they don't get the same kind of training that corporate employees do when it comes to changes like this). Of course I don't like the information you were given, because it was false. People come here for information that is correct, and I will admit I am not right 100% of the time, but I try and make sure information is given properly and as correctly as I can.

If you do it quickly...as in not wait 2 or 3 weeks before going to Verizon, you should be able to do that.

Does anyone know if I return my phone to best buy within the 14 days in order to go to Verizon to switch to edge can I still use my same cell number

I'm on Edge and I'm kinda...eh, with it. My problem was I had purchased a Note 2 from Ebay. What I wasn't told until we got the paperwork rolling was I have to turn over my current phone. Well, that was kind of a rip off, as I paid ... I don't remember but I got a good deal off that phone. Having to just turn it over with no credit really hurt. Of course, from here on in, that won't be an issue.

Now, they made me a great deal though. I was on the unlimited plan and I had to come off that plan. Well, they offered me a 6gb a month plan for the same money I was on the unlimited. For me, that was fine, as I rarely used over 2GB a month...occasionally used 3. Now, I wouldn't have gone with it if I was a really high volume user.

I did not have to turn in my old phone. Maybe it was because I was coming from Sprint, I don't know.

Also, just a tip. They offer the accessory pack with Edge which seemed like $200 worth the accessories for $150. I didn't need any accessories so I asked if I could sign up for Edge without the acaccessory option. He talked to a manager and I was able to do it.

If you are not already on Edge or a new customer you don't have to turn in your old phone (unless you take their early edge option offered to some customers before their upgrade date). Also sounds like someone tried to scam you, because no one should have to go talk to a manager to offer you Edge without an accessory package. Accessories are an option. Was this a corporate store you were dealing with? I would have popped off at the sales person or left if they had told me I HAD to buy accessories to do Edge or it had to be approved by a Manager.

The store at the top of the list on Thompson Parkway.

Once again, it WAS a corporate store. I have said it was a corporate store several times, so yes sir...my displeasure was quite warranted.

I don't disagree with you, I have been told inaccurate things on multiple occasions from Verizon reps. Once I find out, I just move on

I have 2 lines on my account. One is edge and 1 isn't. We both get the exact same coverage with no issues whatsoever.

It was a corporate store. I would have left too if he would have made me buy them. Might have been a sales tactic.

A friend told me that if I upgrade my Edge phone, that I can turn in any working smart phone and not necessarily the one that was on Edge. Is this true? I would like to upgrade my Note 3 to the Note 4 and am eligible without buying it out.....

I don't think so. Verizon knows what phone they've given you on edge. I'm not sure how you could get away giving them a different device

It is NOT prepaid.... This is from the Verizon website (below)

Have an active postpaid service agreement (prepaid accounts currently not eligible for Edge)

If your Edge phone is not fully paid off, you need to turn it that phone. It's more of a loan you are paying off and that phone is the collateral.
I actually received a warranty replacement for mine a couple of weeks ago and it won't even let me upgrade that one. I have to wait a couple of days while they correct my account.

What I was told from Verizon is that you can trade in any working device within reason. So let's say you have a note 3 and a nexus 4 but the note 3 is the active one, you just trade in the nexus 4 and you are good to go.

So my Droid Maxx may not make the cut? Lol! I'm going to try though!

No it will. I told the rep that all I had was a working now 2 and an htc rezound and that I use the note 2as my main phone and the rep said to just to trade in the htc. So pretty much any smart phone I believe.
