Why doesn't my brightness get any higher or lower?

My brightness doesn't get any higher or lower

I just got lollipop and now when I turn the slider fully down in the quick settings for brightness, nothing happens. The brightness doesn't get any lower and when I turn the slider up the brightness doesn't get any higher. When I go onto display settings > brightness and I try to set the brightness from there the slider moves back to halfway. If i turn the slider down and click OK and then click back on it, its back at halfway. Same if i move it up

Try a Cache Partition wipe, good practice after a system update.
Tell us what that does.
