[ROM][WIP][4.4.2] CyanogenMod 11 KitKat for Optimus S/V

Do either the regular or sd recoveries have the ability to partition the sdcard? I can't seem to find it anywhere. I see all the mounts and formats, but no partition.

Could you also give your recommendations for partition numbers, types and sizes for the regular and sd versions? I realize that's it's still very much alpha and things are changing rapidly, but for those who have a spare phone and are inclined to play...

You guys are doing a terrific job with this! And best wishes to Andy

The thing is, the regular recovery won't mount/unmount or format the external partitions from the menu. We need a recovery that can recognize and handle ALL partitions.
true.
i was using adb and zip files/modified zips to mount, format, etc. the recovery handled the rom.zip fine.

Using the files in post 1 (with the Gapps_skinny), I don't get the play store after trying a few times and a few different ways.

I've tried installing both the rom and the gapps at the same time, letting the rom boot, then rebooting and installing the gapps... any ideas?

Flashed the January 4 version of the rom...those skinny Gapps (December 29, came with the Dec 30 rom) STILL won't work. I can't figure out for the life of me why this is.
So it flashes ok but Play Store just doesn't show up in your app drawer?

No partitioning in the recovery unfortunately. For the sd version make or shrink your fat32 partition so there's 1.5 gb empty space after it then make the first partition 1024 mb second partition 256 mb third partition 256 mb or thereabouts, all primary partitions. Make them as ext4 partitions then format them. I used gparted on linux, not sure if there's a windows version but there's a version where you make a bootable cdrom and boot into it so you don't need to be running linux to use it. Very useful program actually. The regular version doesn't require any sd-ext partitions unless you want to experiment with getting int2ext or something similar going.

That's right. I also tried the CM11-AromaGapps-Lite and that didn't work either.
If you have adb we can try and take a look at what's going on under the hood if you're up for it.
Try wiping cache and dalvik and rebooting. Also did you get the 'updating apps 1,2..8' or whatever when you booted up?

No Play Store, no YouTube, no Gmail...nothing.

Edit: brotherswing, you're a lifesaver...sort of. It downloaded and installed fine, but after I hit Accept, it immediately crashed. Subsequent attempts force close almost immediately.

Sounds like gapps didn't flash properly. Did you check the checksum? Also, with the version I posted try clearing its data, or uninstall it and reinstall.

VM670 on 4.4.2? Yes, indeed.

When I try to install it with the checksum, I get E:footer is wrong E:signature verification failed

If I try installing it, I see:
Installing update...
Extracting system files...
Setting Permissions...

What recovery are you using? You can go under advanced options and select "toggle signature verification"

Sorry, didn't see this part when I replied. Does it say anything after "Setting Permissions..."?

That's what I did to try even with the failed checksum, and the following is what I see.
Installing update...
Extracting system files...
Setting Permissions...

The md5 does match my downloaded file according to md5sum.

No, that's all it says.

Ninja post! If the md5 matches then it isn't a checksum error. So the download of your gapps is fine (no corruption.) So, what does it say after setting permissions?

Then it hasn't finished. It will tell you when the installation is completed. That's why it hasn't been working.

It just goes back to the menu asking for selection of another zip to install. I've also tried side-loading the gapps with the same result. I think there must be something strange going on with the package (especially since Shinkenred appears to have the same issue)

Alright, what's your recovery? And are you using the gapps in the OP? Or second post if OS2SD....

VM670 on 4.4.2? Yes, indeed.

If you unzip the gapps you can see which files are in which folders, then you should check those directories on your phone to see if the files are there. If so, then you should check if the permissions on the files and directories are right. You can compare to a working install or look at the updater script in the zip file to see what the permissions are supposed to be. You could use File Manager (after enabling root access in settings) but adb is much handier for this sort of thing.
