Galaxys s4 text notifications are inconsistant

[AC Question]

I only get text notifications on an inconsistent basis. I receive a notification, but the next text that comes in (from same, or different number) will not vibrate or ring. I have repeatedly checked settings, and everything is correct. Why would the notices be so inconsistent? There seems to be no pattern.

Welcome to Android Central! Try wiping the cache partition: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5744

If that doesn't help, then try booting into Safe Mode, which temporarily disables all 3rd party apps. Steps are at the bottom of that link. If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, then something you installed is causing the problem. You may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem disappears. If the problem persists in Safe Mode, then it's more likely to be a hardware or firmware problem.
