battery charge

[AC Question]

My phone quit working so I thought it was the battery and ordered a new one and it says to charge 12 hours before use. I put it in my phone and plugged in the charger but have no light to show it is charging is that normal? Will the light come on once it has charged for a while? or is the phone no good. Thank you for your response

Welcome to Android Central! Most batteries are shipped at least 50% charged, but if it arrived completely dead, then it might not register that it's charging for maybe 30 minutes or even longer. Leave it plugged into a wall outlet for at least 4 hours undisturbed, then check again.

Other possibilities include a faulty charging cable (try a different one) or a faulty microUSB port (bring it to a repair shop).
