First experience w/ Android, i'm using 2.3.5, this is, um, so bad. lol. Will be possibly going up to 4.2.x in a few weeks, is it much much much better?

Android has come a long way since then. Both visually and the framework. What device are you using?

Motorola Admiral for a week so far, as a temporary device

Anything 4+ will yield better use ability/function over anything prior. As already mentioned, the Visual changes and everything else behind the scenes makes these devices awesome.

What are you making the jump to?

To my mind they are world's apart. Most of the criticism I read about Android (laggy, etc) pretty much seems to come from people who have only used < 4.1. 4.1+ is on a whole other level in terms of responsiveness etc...
