Metropcs unlimited mobile hotspot

When I first started using my mobile hotspot with top up data on my Xbox one, I noticed that I never actually ran out of top up data during hotspot usage. I got the text that told me I had 10% of my top up data left but never the text that would say I used up all of my data. It would basically stay at about 950 MB of top up data but count the data usage on my regular 1 GB data bar that had already ran out. This essentially gave me unlimited top up data for my mobile hotspot to my Xbox. Currently it does not work, so I ask would anyone know how to replicate this? Also I'm on the Samsung galaxy light
