Insufficient memory error

I have a HTC Desire 526g running on stock 4.4.2 8GB, 1GB RAM and I have 2.1 GB of internal storage left. Each time I attempt to download something from play store, after it COMPLETES DOWNLOADING an Insufficient Storage message pops up. Yes, I have cleared cache, uninstalled all updates from play store, cleared download manager and restarted my phone, checked for viruses. Something you must know, I rooted my phone for a while using KingRoot after having this problem I deleted KingRoot and uprooted my device. At the moment I am constantly cache cleaning and hoping for the best. Any help you could give? Bear in mind that I can't download anything at ALL at the moment.

Are you clearing the cache or wiping the cache partition? They are two different processes.

Clearing the app cache is Settings -> Storage -> Cache.

Instead, try following these directions to wipe the system cache: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28594

Not saying it will resolve the issue, but it is worth a try.
