Retrieving text messages sent during flight mode

Hi, I was recently on vacation and had my phone on flight mode/off the entire week so I wouldn't get roaming charges. When I turn my phone back on, I don't receive text messages I know were sent while I was away. Does the phone not retrieve those message sent while the phone is off? Is there a way I can retrieve them?

I didn't think it was right....my phone seems to just swallow any texts that get sent when my phone is in flight mode or powered off...just wondering if there was something i may need to turn on or if it's just the way the phone is..

Depends on the carrier. AT&T deletes undelivered sms after 48 hours. Some carriers may go 72 hours but I doubt if any go a week.
