1st 48 Hours with my 128GB 4XL

YOu are new at this , Ain't you.
Nope. You just have your head stuck on Samsung and won't allow the possibility that maybe just maybe it's not all about specs. Have you ever seen a 4 cylinder smoke a V8? Happens every day. On paper you'd think the V8 should win but the person that built the 4 cylinder made it as efficient as possible. The whole is greater than the sum if the parts

I'm the king of derailing threads, but this has gotten outta hand. LOL

its a far cry from my original post, the samsung folks felt the need to dispel any actual user experiences with the 4XL I guess and proclaim victory

4gb ram is more than enough, the rest is marketing.

Idk about this at all. Android sucks on 4GB of ram and it’s 2019. It’s cheap as dirt to add in 6 or 8. You are gimping the 855 with only that much ram. Does the phone even have UFS 3.0? If so that will help some but still there is a pure lack of ram and min spec for a smooth experience is 6GB.

I looked at the specs on the 4XL. I quickly passed bc they are basically selling a 855 (now a year old really) with 4 GB of ram (joke) and a battery that is just a tad too small for a $900 value. I know I’ll going to get a steaming pile of hate but a iPhone 11 is better in every way minus the android stock experience. And to add more wounds to the dead pig the iPhone is cheaper.

How can I sit here and tell anyone that hey a pixel is a good deal? Because I know I’m going to get asked and I’m going to have to say if your looking for a phone that’s new and lower cost then an iPhone is your choice.

Otherwise I think the S9 or something like that might be a much better choice. (Don’t quote me on this idk what they are going for now).

Their 855 with 6GB (not 4GB) of RAM just annihilated a OnePlus 7T Pro with the 855+ and 8GB of RAM in an extremely CPU/RAM intensive test...

That's one reason you don't draw a conclusion only from specs.

The 4 XL with 3700mAh battery lasted only 8 minutes less than the Note 10 Plus with a 4300mAh battery (510 vs 518).

Just a side note, if the battery of the 4 XL at 3700mAh is a tad small for a $900 phone, what does it mean about the Note 10 for $50 more with a smaller, 3500mAh battery? Answer? Nothing until you know how it actually performs, and whether it will make it through your normal day without issue, which makes it irrelevant.

That's another reason you don't draw a conclusion only from specs.

Wow I’m dumb. Idk where I got 4GB from. But why don’t someone send me a link with benchmarks since I’m apparently inept at finding anything on pixels. I still wouldn’t recommend one though, at that price.

I don’t think the pixel 4 blew away the 855+. I bet it was a few point higher but blowing it away would be like note 8 to note 10... the 855+ isn’t even that much faster.

The note 10 is a horrid thing to exist. I mean why not just buy the note 9?? You get more but the note 10 is a good profit tactic.

These debates get so old. There are fans of all devices. We're lucky to even have these options. Buy what suits your needs if it works for you then good. This constant bashing on other devices sounds so ridiculous especially the ones who haven't used the other in a few years you sound dated and foolish because a lot of the arguments made are no longer relevant in 2019.

You can use a phone for 14 days.
And return it .

If you don't work.
That's 14 days to use it all day and night.

But to assume that somebody hasn't used a Phone.

And I'd hate to say I assumed.

Don't forget the restocking fee

I’m almost 24 hours in (yes I caved) a few early observations.

Battery is not that bad. Standby is actually pretty good

The XL feels smaller than other plus sized phones I have used. Maybe just as I have come from the 11 pro max or note 10 plus. Feels very manageable. Glad I went XL rather than standard.

Face unlock is great actually, now that LastPass is supported my app support concerns are minor.

It is far less ugly than the 3 XL

Screen is quite dim

More to follow......

You caved huh..

I am less than 24 hours in with my 4 XL, but surprisingly have some performance issues. Google Play Store has been horrible. It is slow, freezes, updates stall and it just does not work very well. An app called Android System WebView stalls while updating over and over. I tried clearing cache, etc. but it still works poorly. Some other apps stutter and the gestures, while working okay, are not very smooth.

Battery life is not as good as the other phones I have been using, but it is early. I will have to see how that goes.

It feels as if it needs the old-fashion wipe cache partition.

As others have mentioned, most apps do not work with facial recognition. Hopefully, they will get on board.

Otherwise, it has been good. The jury is still out on whether I will keep it, or not.

Best Buy Charged me 35.00 for restocking a phone.

I would of paid more for trying out a unlocked phone.

You don't think I'm going to a carrier store and they charge me over 100.00 do you.

Hello.

I'd try a factory reset and start from scratch. Something is wrong.
