2.2 working on Droid

I am OC'd to 1.1 and I am only scoring around 1300. But thats just on this second release using P3's kernels. The first froyo release ran at much higher numbers for me. I can't seem to break 16 on linpack no matter what build tho. I haven't tried BB yet but might but in all honesty froyo has been running so smooth that I don't even feel like I need a speedy rom lol.

Edit: also I wanna say the second froyo release, when it first boots will crawwwwwwwlllll till I can get into setCPU. I know the first time you boot its gotta sync in everything so thats fine but I'm talking EVERY boot crawls. I have it set on boot now so it's fine but the first froyo release also didn't do that. I might re-load the original.

i had that too. it would take forever to boot up and be at a decent speed. i installed BB yesterday and it boots up a lot faster. and he has a script you can enter in terminal emulator (found in the market) that changes the boot animation and in turn speed up boot up time a little bit.

Well, here's a problem I haven't seen described. I downloaded and installed 2.2 using the ROM on ROM Manager and it worked well for about 24 hours. This afternoon for some reason the data connection was lost, and I couldn't get 3G or 1x coverage. Previously I had great 3G coverage everywhere. Nothing on my end changed.

I just loaded the BBv.01 and I still don't have any data connectivity. Fortunately I can at least use Wifi to get the ROMs. Any ideas?

UPDATE:

I went back to a stable version of 2.1, rooted, and then flashed BBv0.1 over it. All issues seem to be fixed now, though it seems to run a little hot for just being OC'd to 800 Mhz.

I can't tell you what the problem is, just that I have had it before. I almost returned my phone to Verizon, but once I got my phone back to stock, it just started working again, so I assumed it was the ROM I was using. Since then, I am back to rooting and haven't had the problem. Maybe sometimes the drivers get corrupt? Either way, glad it's fixed.

The temp is a bit higher -- but not a lot. I idle with my phone on the table at about 86F. In my pocket it runs about 94ish. I've got Setcpu to cut it down to 600 should the temp get above 105. I feel like when the source is released and they can build Roms from it, more stable versions will come that run cooler. It is so fast compared to 2.1, it doesn't need much. I used to get 640 on the Long bench on setcpu with 1.2GHz kernel, but I'm getting around 575 with 900GHz on 2.2. My low was a 420 when I had the 1.2GHz kernal turned all the way up. That is insane, but I'm sure with a little time, someone will come out with a kernel that will run cool at that speed.

And just think, Gingerbread will be out near the end of the year, lol.
