2.2 working on Droid

Thoughts on New Leaked Froyo...

To be honest this is a better build for me. I am now posting linpack scores in the 18's and Quadrant scores in the low 1600's. I never got close to that on the last build. I have the 1.2 GHz kernal installed but keep it set at 900 except when I'm benchmarking. The build has been stable and it fixed my mototorch. The only thing I've noticed is that Metamorph still doesn't work.

Anyway, I'll probably stay with this until Pete brings out the BB for Froyo because it is flying and stable and running cool. If I play games like homerun battle, I usually turn down the cpu to around 700 just so it doesn't get too hot.

I installed and have the Chrome to phone working, and installed the latest baseband. All is well..

Oh this build is nice quite speedy even at 900. Though it has a bug in the browser. When displaying a page it will go black then come right back. Other than that I'm loving it

FINALLY got 2.2 up on my droid! Running beautifully. I'm just above 15 in Linpack running a 1ghz kernel.
So far so good. All the problems from the weekend are gone, and I think I was the cause of most of them. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO WIPE DATA & CACHE!!!!

I am probably going to install it tonight when I get a chance. Does it still come with p3's kernel stock?

no it comes with a random dev kernel. but the wifi fix kernels work with it. flashed it again today when i got my new droid. dont see any gain from the new baseband

Whats everyone set their CPU to on this new build? Anyone noticing any overheating issues?

I set up my profiles in SetCPU as follows..

100%<1200max 1100min
50%<1100max 900min
25%<900max 700min

I guess what i'm asking is simple. Is it safe to run the CPU at such high speeds?

anyone lose google maps on this 2nd leak ? i had google maps on the first one but couldn't update but no big deal. now with the 2nd leak i seemed to have lost maps all together but it wont install from market says installation unsuccessfull

nope i still have it. look in system app. with root explorer to see if its their

when i look at that, i see a future motorola brick haha.

ok no more joking. i personally would lower those significantly. it runs fast even at low clock speeds. i would set it stock at 500-900. 30%< 200-600. you are going to fry your cpu and drain your batter really fast at those current settings. i am hoping you set a temperature failsafe option. please tell me you did. if not, do it now. if you fry you cpu, i guess you could always tell verizon you left it in the sun, dont know how you would explain root though

Hahaha... really they are that bad? Does anyones run on these speeds at all? I did have a failsafe temp set too. But ill lower them and heed your warnings master. :)

EDIT:

Changed to stock Min: 900max 700min
under 25% charge: 600max 400min
sleep/standby: 250max 250min
failsafe temp>50C: 250max 250min

how are those?

i have mine setup to run at 1200max 250 min and failsafe temp of 100 degrees farenheit if it hits that it drops to 250max/250min is that good?

Well I could see how this method would work, but right when the battery tempature cools a little and goes under 100 farenheit it will kick back up to 1200max.

I'm going to listen to brett and keep my settings lower. It still runs blazing fast with froyo and JIT compiler. really isnt any need at all to clock.

i agree think im gunna lower mine to like 8/900 leave it. still waiting for jake's kernals to get released for froyo they run so much cooler than p3's

Just ran a bench mark with these updated speeds.

Before, when I was clocked max at 1.2GHz I scored a 1485.

With the speeds lowered and essentially set to 900max 700min, I scored a 1182.

Not THAT much of a change and deffiently not noticeable when using the phone. Ill sacrifice the 300 points for the CPUs safety.

yes its in the system/app folder as maps. should i delete this and download from market again?

cute it and paste it on your sdcard. that should remove it then try to download maps from the market again. if it works cool if not then put the apk in data app. then install it that way

im running 1100max 250 min
sleep 400 max 250 min
charging700 max 250 min

im installing the new version in a min just making a back up and downloading it onto my comp at the same time. im tempted to try Birdman's optimized version. after i get this up and running and have a back up ill probably install it later tonight. especially since last i checked, Boost is having issues with his version.

birdman's optimized version? whats optomized about it finally with froyo i have no interest in trying other roms for speed it is fast enough for me. i have installed the blackice theme tho and it has best boot animation ever i think

we will see how this works once it starts warming up. before i recently updated the newest version, i was able to set it to 200-400 and still ran smoother than most roms before it.
