I love these threads mainly because of my experience. I ended up getting the blue fastboot screen before there were cool directions on how to fix it. Was freaking out a bit but thought to myself "I can fix this" and searched and dug until I found how to fix my problem. Sure it takes a bit of extra time but, for me at least, it felt good knowing I had done it myself with some research into threads already explaining this kind of thing...

Same here. I originally got the blue fastboot screen when I was flashing my first ROM, and then I did a bit of digging and found out how to fix it. I also agree that we need a couple more stickied threads, especially the What not to do when rooting, and the NEVER do a factory reset threads.

I think we need to start sending the people, that don't research first, a big bulls eye they can take to their desk that says "do android central a favor and put your face here...HARD"

First, you rock!

Second, if you used SuperOneClick to screw up your phone don't you think posting in the thread you got it from would get your better results as the people there are probably ones that have used it and probably helped with your problem before...that's it.

Good luck with your problem...

One more reason I want to punch people that create one click programs and release them to the masses.

Can't really blame the tool if its the person using it at fault.

If I give someone a hammer and tell them "here use this." and then they smack themselves in the head with it is it the tools fault or the person using it?

Would you hand that hammer to somebody that doesnt know what its used for or even how to properly use it? If yes then its YOUR fault.

The problem with one click programs and tools, is it allows people that should not be using it to use it. People see all the rage about rooting your phone and flashing roms and get excited. They google how to root my Gatorade G2xf phone and see a link that says use this tool. And instead of reading through the site where they found the link to, they jump in feet first and now they have a Gatorade paper weight.

Im not saying they are bad. but they are harmful to our community in the hands of uninformed people. Watch the new moto forums, as soon as somebody roots and posts about how to do it you will see at the minimum of 10 threads started asking how to fix their broke phone. And it will surely be because of a one click tool.

wow..

you went and flashed aospcm7? did you even take care to make sure you got root back the RIGHT way and got the recovery that is ABLE to flash it. or did you just try flashing it from the broken recovery you have currently. becuase that would be the problem right there

you really act without thinking? we outlined the steps you need to take to fix your phone but you ignore it and try your own method and now look where you are.

Sorry guys but instead blaming him,why you don't help him? Everybody can make mistakes.

Ley me get home, and tell you how I bring the phone to stock

We have pointed him in the right direction several times, either he dose not understand what we are telling him or he can't be bothered to read the threads we gave him links to and follow directions. If either is true he seems like the type of person who shouldn't root their phone and has no business messing with it.

Look through the treads I posted links on what to do,so did watskyhotsky. Short of physically going to his house and doing it for him I don't know what else to do.

Yeah this guy is a troll. I wouldn't have even answered the other thread if I had seen this. I don't even bother looking at this because of the title.

WOW fellas, I just learned a lot about the true nature of the Gurus on this Forum. I am rooted with SOC, and I think I made the same mistake of having hit the root button instead of the shell root button when rooting. So I think I might have the same potential problem that all of you are talking about.

I have recognized my situation in advance, and have been wondering if I can do a sucessful recovery to stock, avoiding the problems Vendicated has run into when attempting to recover. Since his problem is the same I thought I might find the solution in the information he obtained from you in this discussion.

The two messages I heard loud and clear were "Go back and do another SOC root, but this time follow directions.", and/or "don't bother us with your problems, stupid, go back to the site where you got your original information!". With a lot of "can you believe how stupid these people are!" thrown in just to make you all feel more important.

This makes me ask myself the question "Is the problem with the person asking the question, or is the problem with the enlightened "Know it Alls" that take so much pleasure from another's pain when he/she comes looking for help.

In the future please do me a favor; if you ever come across either threads or posts of mine, please do not ever post in reply. No matter how much you may know, pompous experts are not people I need help from.

Distainfully yours

Cbill Cybermaniak, obviously you are not a target of my comments.

I just went through the experience of rooting & flashing latest IHO/Backside CM7 Gingerbread ROM (luckily without much problems), and even after reading a lot of info here. some of it is not documented clearly, or outdated.

So here's basically what I would suggest, given the more recent tools available now:

1. Use GingerBreak to root, install & run the .apk. Phone will reboot if successful. Check with terminal emulator 'su' cmd to make sure you're rooted after reboot.
2. In app market, download & install ROM Manager.
3. In ROM Manager, install Clockworkmod Recovery (suggested for CM7 since it likely does more thorough wiping of OV's partitions)
4. Boot into clockworkmod recovery mode, backup original ROM. then wipe data & cache, then in advanced menu, format everything except /sdcard.
5. Flash new IHO/Backside ROM zip (most recent & updated CM7 ROM for OV as of today).
6. Flash google apps.zip
6. Reboot normally & enjoy a fast, almost feature-complete Gingerbread ROM on OV.

This type of problem has popped up several times. There is so much information available to people if they even take one second to look at the sticky posts in this section.

Aside from getting skype or google voice there is not much we can really do. The threads are posted and are pretty dang detailed. Getting in a hurry and not following a important step like clicking hte proper button is the biggest issue. And as people have said the only way to fix it is to do it again and properly push the files to the phone. Lets not get me ranting about these damn one click and your done tools. They are nice once you figure out how to do it the manual way. But they are allowing a lot of people that really dont need to be doing it the opportunity to do it and then we end up with threads like these.

If you think the attitudes of the people here are upity, go ask this as xda. You will comeback here wishing you never left.

One more thing. if somebody told you look you didnt follow the directions, that is why it happened now reread the directions and try again. What would you do? Initially that is what happened. This poster is ignoring people and doig as he pleases. Read his other thread he started its quite clear he is either (a) trolling or (b) to hard headed to listen. Nothing we do seems to sink in.

if that didnt help you i seriously dont know what else will cause that was the easiest intrusctioons i could find when i did it.. anyways just trying to help :)

people have told you what to do over and over and over again, but you still find the need to start several threads asking for help on the same thing!

you want help? go back and reread what was already wrote
