2.3.3 messed my optimus v up.

WOW fellas, I just learned a lot about the true nature of the Gurus on this Forum. I am rooted with SOC, and I think I made the same mistake of having hit the root button instead of the shell root button when rooting. So I think I might have the same potential problem that all of you are talking about.

I have recognized my situation in advance, and have been wondering if I can do a sucessful recovery to stock, avoiding the problems Vendicated has run into when attempting to recover. Since his problem is the same I thought I might find the solution in the information he obtained from you in this discussion.

The two messages I heard loud and clear were "Go back and do another SOC root, but this time follow directions.", and/or "don't bother us with your problems, stupid, go back to the site where you got your original information!". With a lot of "can you believe how stupid these people are!" thrown in just to make you all feel more important.

This makes me ask myself the question "Is the problem with the person asking the question, or is the problem with the enlightened "Know it Alls" that take so much pleasure from another's pain when he/she comes looking for help.

In the future please do me a favor; if you ever come across either threads or posts of mine, please do not ever post in reply. No matter how much you may know, pompous experts are not people I need help from.

Distainfully yours

Cbill Cybermaniak, obviously you are not a target of my comments.

cbill> this guy asked in more than one thread and have received real help by several posters (in more than one thread too) and he continues posting things as if no one responded. His problem is beyond not knowing how to do something or making a mistake. He just refuses help and/or he doesn't bother to read what posters are saying and looking up the links.

Don't be offended, but your post here is about as blindly written as his continual reposts asking for help.

Brad: Of course I am offended! How could you possibly know my degree of knowledge on this, or any other issue.

My comments are not about whether the originator is a jerk or not. They are about how people conduct themselves on the forums; especially those people that represent themselves as knowledgable, helping hands.

It is about those same people belittling a person who requests help on a public forum. (I note that your closing words appear to be about as tactless as those often expressed by others throughout this thread).

Regarding your assertion that my comments were blindly written: In fact, I have spent several hours each day for the better part of the last two weeks on several different forums, trying to obtain the knowledge required to safely root, and, more importantly, unroot an Optimus V. I have read hundreds, if not thousands of forum comments, and threads on rooting and unrooting, many containing arguements and disagreements. To the best of my knowledge, I have never read anything quite as distasteful as what I have seen in this thread.

If you think I have blindly commented, you are welcome to that opinion; my opinion remains this could have been handled much more maturely by simply not responding when things became hopeless or irritating.

One thing I do agree with the others on: There should be a ''sticky" on unrooting.

Cbill

well I will give you that, it would be cool to have a one post response help with step by step directions for him to get back to where he needs to be, and I am not saying there are not impatient or ignorant posters on here.

That being said, it is true that people asking for help need to read and learn how to search for the right answers. If the answers are incomplete, keep reading other posters and you will mostly find your answers. Now I do not tend to this forum as much as XDA, but I have ALWAYS found my answer by searching and reading. Is it like like those who are mechanically inclined for me with technical stuff? maybe, but then again if you are not comfortable with doing stuff like rooting and modding, then maybe those people ought to consider not messing with it or finding somebody who is comfortable with it.

Back to those few threads, I can very well understand someone who is trying to help get fustrated with Vendective (sp?) because they posted the links and help (looking at it as if I needed the help), but he kept coming back as if he never even read there posts repeating himself.

People could be nicer sure, but those asking for help need to be more patient, courteous, and be willing to take advice and read/answer back with what helping posters are asking of him.

See I have no problem with helping the guy or person in need, but like I said short of going to his house and doing it for him I don't see any other way other then pointing him in the right direction. If he had read the directions and then didn't understand all he had to do is ask questions which he has yet to even do. If you can't follow directions that are clearly put in a guide or post then there is not much me or anyone else can do. Seems like in this day and age no one can be bothered to even READ and follow directions, and if you don't understand what they tell you to do in a certain step then ASK!

Before I even rooted my phone I would read the post first before I even touched my phone, and if I didn't understand something I would ask questions by doing that I learned what to do, how to fix, what not to do, and etc.

There have been many people who have come here asking for help and pretty much all have them have had their problems solved. This particular person has been given the help and they have yet to even attempt to follow one piece of advice they just keep blindly doing their own thing and making the current problem worse. If someone won't listen then there is no helping them. This is why Im starting to think this person is a troll

I'd like the link and I can only imagine what your PM box looks like. I'm almost sad that mine is still unspammed :(

Many of the people have spent countless hours trying to help people just like this guy. Only to have them refuse to actually do as they are being instructed. Hence the reason people are upset now. He has been told several times how and what to do. Yet there is two or more threads created by this guy.

It is about those same people belittling a person who requests help on a public forum. (I note that your closing words appear to be about as tactless as those often expressed by others throughout this thread).

People stopped posting and he continued to create threads. That is when it gets irritating and downright frustrating. You then have a forum that is getting threads pushed to the second and third page because somebody refuses to listen. Its easier to try and nip it in the bud as soon as it is clear there is no hope. Many of the people that posted in this thread and the others are very knowledgeable and most if not all of the suggestions given are valid and had links to back them up. When one poster would post the OP would respond and act as if nobody was helping so somebody else would post and the scycle continued until a point you call BS. I admit I called BS and said people need to stop posting because they obviously are not helping the guy as he refuses to take the help offered. That was the sensible thing to do. Stop the thread from getting bumped up and giving him more logs for his campfire.

Now here we are debating with you over how professional or mature we are in our responses. You claim to have spent several hours now reading various forums and this particular thread is the most obscene thread you have read ever. Im sorry if you really have spent hours reading various forums you would see the mud slinging at xda and know this is mild compared to some of them posted there.

So yes your response and the fact your little feelers are hurt is enough evidence you posted blindly and didnt know the frustrations most of the people here have with unhelpable people.

I see both sides here. I can understand the fact that kid came here for help. I can also understand him getting irritated when the distasteful posts started in, because I don't like it when they happen to me. But a line has to be drawn somewhere. When links, advice and instructions are posted by the more experienced users, he should have read them and used his brain (all people have one) to understand them and research what he doesn't. Instead, everything that he was advised to do was responded with "I don't know how". If he can't follow simple instructions then he needs to unroot (assuming he can figure out how) and either stop trying, or have someone who knows how SHOW him what to do. Honestly, that's what I did. I had no idea what I was doing so I had my brother show me. Just from my personal opinion, if you don't understand steps 2-10, then don't try step 1.

I do think people on these forums should be able to keep themselves composed in a peaceful manner, but we do all have freedom of speech and a lot of people are too "ballsy" when they're not looking someone eye to eye.

yup ur right riggerman now you can kys bc i fixed my optimus now its running
2.3.4 so yea. but the only thing that wrong is wifi keeps saying error.

You fixed it good job!! Let me ask you , do you have wifi at your house? If es then go to setting wireless & networks and check off Wi-Fi. Then you have to go to Wi- Fi settings to connect to your wifi. You have to do this even at a wi fi hotspot. Ok?

In your hacking ans slashing about it sounds as if you corrupted your wifi software.
Heres the part you not gonna like and I really dont wanna tell you..however, the only way to fix it...wipe the phone and reinstall. Then hope to whatever you pray to that you didnt fry the wifi circuitry.

Also can you explain what the heck kys is?

Yeah, he's being a little emo punk, and still trolling and posting doubles in two different threads. This is why forums appoint mods, but they haven't done their job here yet, or they haven't seen this thread yet cause it should be closed by now.
